  1. With Monahan and Edmonson hurt I think now Montreal will be back up plans for other teams. Once the other big name players get traded then the Montreal players will be plan b for other teams. I still think we'll do alright. Dadonov and Drouin I think will also get traded. Maybe even Armia. I also hear Jake Allen name out there for Pittsburgh or Vegas

  2. You already know my opinion but it all gets back to the Habs Brass I guess on how much they want to develop their youth and how far away they think some of their prospects might be. The length of what Monahan wants for his next contract might also play a factor in if he even considers playing with the Habs next season.

If Monahan doesn't get moved, it might show him his value is very low. So maybe he might want to sign a contract with a team for a few seasons to show he's ok. But at 28, I think most star forwards want to sign as many years as they can. So if a team offers him a 5 or 6 year contract, I can see him accept. I don't see the Habs offer more than 2 or 3 years. I think that in the next year, or maybe 2, Beck will be ready to play for the Habs. There are a many more centers such as Kidney, Simoneau, Mysak, Kapanen and Rohrer climbing the ranks. They may not need Monahan at this point so I don't see him sign here long term.

I will say this about the Habs. They got a draft pick out of trading for Monahan but they also gave him every opportunity to play in Montreal and I think he at least recognizes and appreciates it. If he doesn't get many offers, I don't think he's against signing with Montreal short term and it is a positive aspect that other free agents can see and hopefully be a good reason to sign in Montreal. Armia, Drouin and Dadonov got way more ice time than they deserved.

To end, If Hughes and Gorton sign Monahan more than 3 years, I trust them. I like Monahan so I won't be too upset even if I want to give prospects a chance to bloom in the NHL.

  3. Yes, and he will get us another 1st rounder plus. if we can't move him, he will get a 1-year deal for 4 or 5 million and then he may get traded next year at the deadline or just cement a position here.

  4. He should be moved as well as Edmunston, Dadonov,Armia, Drouin but some will not as their value is not too high….Drouin is worth a bag of used pucks ok maybe 2 bags but going ahead the youth is our future…. too many injuries are messing up any plans they may have. Anderson will get a 1st rounder but with his contract do we want to trade him…we need to get worthwhile returns

  5. I love your channel.
But could you please retire that nasty doctored picture of Gorton on Hulk Hogan? It's so gross lol.

  6. I like him but probably too fragile. So these injuries recently maybe a good thing, meaning we avoided a potential mistake of signing him long term. We already have Galy for the role of injured vet. For me the best case scenario is we get any pick for him at TDL.

  7. Great show Junkie, can't argue with your analysis. I'd resign him for the league minimum for a season if he's not moved by March 3. Like you said, can't really see MonaHab going for it BUUUUT…

  8. He got married at my work last summer. Lots of players there. Tom Wilson which surprised me. Peller estates in niagara-on-the-lake. His wife was loaded and kept asking for wierd shit

  9. Hey bud ! Yes. Our trade bait is getting a little sour. Anderson is the only worm that might get us a good return. A third 1st round pick would be nice and then Dangle trading all 3 for whoever gets the first. Crazy I know but worth a shot. Great post as always ! You and Dekes are the only ones I always look for. GHG

  10. Well, considering his situation, he should accept the fact that most teams won't sign a multi year deal with him. He needs a 1 or 2 years deal to prove to everyone, including his own body, that he is worth a big and long contract. If he understands that, and we can sign a bridge contract of sort, then I would be all for it.
But of course, the best would have been to trade him while he was playing like an excellent center. But everything is going to sh!t this season…

  11. Too bad about sean the wine glass monahan. Too bad about florida picking up momentum recently. Too bad about the recent tank stall. But if any of this has taught us anything, it's that the season is long and anything can happen over 82 games. I hope Hughes works his magic and does something unexpected to nab the habs a first-round pick. Great work as always hockey junkie

  12. If he's not traded, the Habs could offer a short-medium term contract because he can produce while healthy. When he's not healthy, put him on LTIR for 10 games plus so it doesn't hit the cap. I doubt that he's go for that because he probably wants a long-term contract to wind up his career. Maybe the Coyotes would go for that. I'm not sure if trading him would get much in return at this point, but sometimes a team can grab a diamond in the rough around 100th in the draft. All-in-all, I think it's better to keep him if a reasonable contract can be done. Otherwise, hasta la vista.

  13. Like I said before, there is no way we are going to get a first for Monahan, even if he returns and plays before the deadline. He is too much of an injury risk. If we can get anything for him at this point (3rd or 4th round pick) it would be a win. Remember, Calgary already gave us a first round pick for him.

  14. Not a chance in hell anyone gives up more than a 5th round pick for Monahan. His career is over, he cannot stay healthy.

  15. If he doesn't get traded, only for a short term budget deal…this rebuild will take a while anyways. If he wants big bucks toss him into the free agent pool.

  16. GMs will ask for a player's medical records before they make a trade. That's been done for ages and there's a reason Monahan was given to us with a 1st round pick. Only a GM that doesn't mind losing his job will actually look into trading for his services. Just a note, I love Monahan, when healthy he is one of our top 200 ft players. He's a complete player that got derailed by serious injuries :(.

  17. Don't give a crap
Time to put out the expired garbage.
We looking at if we lucky
    4th and 5th round pics
    I don't wanna deal Anderson
With Arbie out now all you assholes seeing his value

  18. For mtl to resign him. It all depends on how he finishes the season. Maybe give him a 1 year deal. I doubt he will be getting offered long-term anywhere else anyway.
