    what has Pinto done to earn $2-3m?? its his 3rd season and hes barely played 70 NHL games. dont get me wrong, i love the kid and want him on the team but for his body of work thus far, $1.2m x 2yr tops.

    I like Pillzy's thinking about playing it safe and getting a cheap, solid guy like Benning but I agree with Ross that the Sens need to aim higher. Problem is everyone available seems to either have injury problems, are underperforming, signed until their late 30s on not-cheap contracts, or fans cant stand them. Even Karlsson who is having a great season hasn't played more than 56 games a year since leaving Ottawa and that's a big contract.

    I like the Benning idea. Trade Joseph for Benning. Call up Soko. Sign Mayfield cheap this summer for bottom pairing.

    You need to have defensive defensemen. The whole issue with Ottawa is that they have offensive Ds and tons of them. They can't defend and it's costing the team goals.

    I will have to disagree with you Piller this time and go with Ross. We need a top 4 right-shot D-Man who will carry the Sens over that threshold. It will also help Chabot have fewer minutes on the ice, which in return gives him more ability to pinch or skate the puck in.

    I love EK but he's not coming back and the money and fit just aren't there for him on this team. This would make a great nostalgia story but not a good hockey move for the Sens right now. We need a defensive stalwart on the back end.

    u don't have extra money or found monies for D. That saved money went towards Zub's new contract, remember? I hope u find "cap" friendly contracts. U still have to find monies for Debrincat, or there goes the Sens' first round pick, a 2nd round pick and how many others? OR does Debrincat, sit out like Formenton- oops did ya' forget? waiting for his UFA, a 1 year and bye bye, to Tampa or Florida or Toronto? Norris' 8 mill which is still on inj reserve and not LTIR, presumably (?). Boston and Washington just improved their clubs…….. {hint hint}

    consider kinds of guys like Van Riemsdyk on Washington, etc …. the type of dollar contracts that the Sens can afford for the next number of years, as example. you're giving away too much money ex Hamonic's dollars. You still have to resign Gambrell, Pinto, Gauthier, and Brannstrom (RFAs with Arb). What good is a rental contract?
