  1. The asking price for Gavrikov is likely too high. Who comes out of the line-up to make room for him? No one. He's injury insurance. And you don't pay a premium for injury insurance. So unless Columbus is just giving him away – and Kekelainen is no fool – this is probably a bad move. Now we wait and see just how bad it is.

  2. With all due respect to Talbot and I haven’t seen his play in net much this season with Ottawa. as usually when I’ve caught games it was Forsberg, Sogard or Mando in net. But without knowing the specifics actual gameplay would show, his numbers while decent look similar to Fleury. I’d be and am kinda nervous about switching back to Talbot with Mando and Mads playing so well and Ottawa looking fairly good right now with a small chance at a wildcard spot. I get it and he could play great in his return. Just the potential drop off and rocking the boat pops into mind for me right now.

  3. Now that Demko's coming back watch the nucks go from a top 5 pick to outside the top 10, because it's the most nuck thing I can think of at this point.

  4. As a Vegas fan I want management to stand pat, but I know Kelly McCrimmon and George McPhee will further mortgage the Hell out of the team's future.

  5. Las Vegas just enjoys cheating. They do this every single year, when the players clearly are not hurt, and the League isn't doing anything about it. Las Vegas is the NHL's Golden Child. I want to see them fall off the map completely by the end of the decade.

  6. mando is going down….and belleville is thanking the heavens for that…

  7. Chychrun apparently placed in limbo in perpetuity. And if they DON'T come to terms w/ anyone they've had fans paying good $ to see Joe Shmucklehead in Chychrun's place whenever they were at the Mullett. Bettman's fine w/ this nonsense?

  8. Cap question I hope the hockey guy can answer for us!
Wouldn’t a team cough oilers acquiring Toews who isn’t likely to trturn this year give them cap relief with him being on LTIR?
I remember Tampa doing that with Seabrook but damned if anyone understands the damn cap rules!

  9. Timo Meier is one of the biggest assets still available, I don’t see teams not going after him barring his team keeping him.

Imo he goes to the devils but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the western teams goes in on him

  10. Vegas should be in on Meier. Stone may be in a similar position to Muzzin, where the long term outlook is a question mark.

  11. Brutal with Stone. He’s easily my favorite player in the league. So much fun to watch . And of course our front office will likely do some crazy bullshit and get Kane or something further annihilating any future we have . (If it gets us a cup then cool but I donno man.) Just stick with what we have. They’re playing good lately . They won’t though . Of course because they’re on crack.

  12. Honestly Vegas might go in for Kane, with the cap space available and the whole win a cup in 5/6 seasons thing it's now or never.

  13. I don't want this to happen but Kane to Vegas seems very likely . Hopefully Kane says "no dice".

  14. Shannon wrote that the Bruins "need to trade a contract to acquire Gavrikov." They have only 47 out of the 50 allowed contracts. Did he mean cap space? They have only $1,000,000 of deadline cap space.

I know it's a business, but I don't like the idea of trading Craig Smith away from probably the best chance he'll ever get to win the Cup. His contract ($3.1 million) expires this year. What are the odds that Smith would sign with Columbus? Gavrikov's contract, which also expires this year is only $300,000 less at $2.8 million. If the Bruins want more defensemen, they still have Mike Reilly ($3 million cap hit) in the AHL (his contract has a cap hit of $1.875 million while he's in the minors). If they keep Smith and bring up Reilly, they will need to create only $125,000 of cap space.

  15. P. Kane and Meier are the flashing names being traded around. Part of me hopes for additional help in net but Eichel needs someone to pass to on the first line.

  16. One thing you can never say about is Vegas is that they bore their fans. They've kept it entertaining lol

  17. My guess for Vegas the player they could be in on would be Timo Meier. Meier’s name has been thrown around in trade talks and I think is the biggest name left out there. They could also go for Patrick Kane but he’s not the player he once was so I think Meier is the most likely.

  18. Talbot I don't think is good enough in net so him returning hopefully will allow them to trade him for something. Makar shame he got that concussion he is a bit smaller coming from College not used to protecting himself. Stone that was smart for Senators to trade him but I don't think Vegas gave up much compared to other deals like the Eichel Debacle. Jack might make Playoffs for ONly Time in CAreer heeh. Bruins have all this hype for a team that will get swept or lose in first or second round again. I like Swayman more for Post Season too. Meier to Knights is my guess haha. Semi surprised Jankowski cleared. Stone a bit injury prone another great thing for Calgary. Demko should return at Draft Lottery when Bedard goes to Sharks ;).

  19. I think once Boudreau has fully completed his contract with the Canucks he might say a bit more than he has

  20. I don't understand the Gavrikov trade rumor at all. Adding him doesn't move the needle, but the asking price is what you would give up for someone who does. I will be pissed if that's the move they decide to make, because they can only make one, and it doesn't address any needs, it doesn't fix any problems, and it doesn't make the team any better. They need more scoring depth, not a freaking backup defenseman at the cost of their future. Craig freaking Smith is on deck if someone gets injured, which is already bad enough, but if they move him to acquire a backup defenseman, they run a real risk of having to plug in some AHL player during a playoff run. Damnit Sweeney, your reputation was starting to get better. The guy just can't help shooting himself in the foot, can he?
