Suggesting a 1st rounder + Heinola + mystery prospect would be a no brainer assuming the extra prospect isn’t the centre piece. But it also won’t be enough to land Meier.

There’s no way that this couldn’t be an unbiased and reasonable take

I still don’t see how we fit Meier under the cap next season. We would have to weaken our D-core which is not exactly our strongest suit.

I agree that we should really go for it. But I don’t want to be stupid about it. Some costs are just too high to pay.

I’d be genuinely interested in paying the cost if we thought we could sign Timo afterwards. Especially if that was one more piece that could convince Dubois to sign on long term as well.

I feel like the best way to use our cap space is to get high salary low value contracts but still good players. Everyone obviously wants timo and chychryn because of their contracts which is what’s going to make the cost to acquire so high. But targeting good decent players on high contracts can make the cost very cheap. No other contender has the cap space we do which means we can take players that no one else can.

If we could get a package deal to get both kane AND Toews I wonder if theyd be more apt to wave their NMC. No other team could do that. If they retain on them we could also try and include McCabe who is pretty versatile and can play both left D and right D which would be pretty damn valuable.

To be honest I wouldnt even rule out trading for Karlsson if he was salary retained. Curious if that could work a la Pronger and Niedermayer on the ice for the entire game. Morrisey on the ice and then switches with Karlsson and then back to morrisey. But then again there’s a chance it wouldn’t work out like when the Sharks had both karlson and burns. And they just took away from each other.

We would have Karlsson for this playoff run and next playoff run. And if we can’t re-sign Dubois, schiefele, and Helly in 2 years then we are trading them off anyways and karlsons remaining 3 year on contract won’t matter because we would be entering a retool/rebuild from hopefully the pieces acquired from those trades and have tons of cap space.

It would be nice to get a big name given the cap space, but fit is going to be important. We don’t need another Kevin Hayes.

I’d like to see a middle 6 forward and a big bodied shut down. d-man. But easier said then done. The d-man needs to be a regular contributor, not Luke Schenn. I think Samberg or Schmidt would be the odd men out. I really wish we could have gotten Taresanko, Meier would be a nice fit I think. Chevy is going to have to be patient I think because some teams won’t know if they’re sellers until deadline day

everyone keeps chasing offensive forwards but I think the Jets biggest weakness is still depth on D.

That game vs Chicago – they were running around their own zone for most of the 3rd period looking completely unorganized and panicked. they need a big, physical shut down guy. Even if it’s just as added depth and not a #1 or #2 guy. The playoffs (if you’re successful) are a grind. You’re going to need that depth to survive.

  7. Klingberg and Barbashev, make it happen Chevy

We should trade for that Sidney Crosby kid. He’s pretty good.

  9. I personally think Henrique would be a good fit in our middle 6 but you never hear his name
    Mentioned anywhere.

How about that defenceman for San Jose? Is he available?

  11. raxnahali

I think the team is good enough and deep enough to beat anyone in the west.

You forget the biggest thing. Get this guy, grab that guy !
It doesn’t work like that for Wpg. Chevy asks , would you come here ? No , ok.
Then goes and asks the next guy.

We could afford 8 million we should sign Patrick Kane or Erik karlsson
