IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Without the benefit of a hearing to speak with both sides about intent or injury, I’m going strictly off what I see and what I’d like to see eliminated from our game. I also realize that in today’s NHL this would be an absurd suspension. I’m just asking us to realize how much would the game of hockey really miss plays like this?
William Nylander takes a late rub out which yes, should have been a minor penalty for interference, but no, doesn’t warrant stopping in your tracks and going out of your way to swing butt end first at head height.

He is a Leafs player so he wont get suspended.
As a Leafs fan I will say this was definitely wrong and deserved a penalty. I see your point on it possibly being suspension worthy, I'm surprised it didn't come up. Swinging at another players head is unacceptable, and very strange for Nylander to retaliate like that.
Sends a message to the next guy that wants to take liberties with him. If a guy consistently runs you, get those elbows up let them know its going to hurt them too.

5 mins for elbowing, not a hockey play. As for the suspension, probably none, but that's a horse you know what action, can't believe they went 2 here.
Should've been assessed as a major IMO. Pretty the clear intent there is to either get in a high crosscheck or a butt end (or maybe a glove, who knows). Regardless, intent matters in these spots. Gotta stand up for yourself, but you can't do it like that.
that's definitely a major in my opinion. Yes, I'm a Michigan fan, which Blankenburg played for University of Michigan for four years including last year as captain. But still, you cant swing your stick at somebody just because they checked you.
Definitely a penalty, but not a suspension. If you take video review seriously and they thought it wasn't even worth five, it's hard to justify a suspension.
