The Dallas Mavericks are considered to be big winners of the 2023 NBA trade deadline. The Mavs have traded for Kyrie Irving and paired him with franchise star Luka Doncic. NBA trades are broken and this Kyrie Irving trade to Dallas instantly raises the team’s ceiling in the tough Western Conference. In the process, Dallas had to trade Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith to the Brooklyn Nets, but the Mavs also gave Luka Doncic a co-star in Kyrie Irving. The Phoenix Suns traded for Kevin Durant, the Lakers traded for D’Angelo Russell, the Utah Jazz acquired Russell Westbrook, the Timberwolves traded for Mike Conley. However, there’s no star tandem with a higher ceiling than the Mavs’ duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving’s Mavericks debut was spectacular as he scored 24 points. Kyrie has already led Dallas to back to back wire-to-wire wins against the Clippers and the Kings while Luka Doncic is out.

This Kyrie Irving trade definitely puts the Mavs as playoff favorites. However, there are still questions as to the Luka and Kyrie fit. Can Reggie Bullock and Josh Green step up as defenders for the Mavs? Will Christian Wood and Dwight Powell be able to defend the rim while Maxi Kleber is out?     peak Goran Dragic was more ball dominant than Kyrie and they worked well together with Luka. The result? Slovenia became champs in 2017 Eurobasket and that was when Luka was 17 yrs old lol

    I don’t think it’s a gamble at all. I think Irving had some merit of what he said about the nets staff and drama considering almost EVERYONE there especially their stars wants out of there. Harden got out of there Kylie did and now kd. That shows ALOT. I think he’ll enjoy being and Dallas and have a real connection of respect here and he will most definitely help us win a championship with his skill

    actually, i just cross checked usage% with player % of teams points.
    most of the superstars are +1 or +2% on % of points no matter how many posessions.
    westbrook and harden are underperforming……… and the warriors+ 3 best bench players (apart form looney and draymond)
    are having superstar performances in terms of points per 100 posessions and % of teams points / usage %.

    jokic embiid giannis – curry lillard irving – luka/tatum durant and lebron 3 guards 3 7 fters and 3 hybrid guard/forwards

    I think this a 1 and done- Mark Cuban is too smart to keep him there, or to give him more than a 1 year contract. Dallas will be making a trade by the summer that will benefit them.

    Please stop with these clickbait titles containing "they and everyone LIED". I think its clear that Irving is an incredible talent and comes with a huge bag of uncertainty. He couldnt get the nets past the Celtics with durant next to him and wasnt the leader the Celtics needed when they got beaten by the Bucks before his ugly divorce. Yes it could totally work in Dallas but there are big risks. I feel Milwaukee is the big favourite and in the West there are at least 5 teams that could make the finals (den, Pho, lac, dal, gsw)
