    Matt Duchene is the KING of playing one good season right before a new contract…and then go right back to being average…..he's done it twice at least…3 times if Including his season in Colorado right before a bridge deal ..

    I love the idea of using Schenn as leverage to trade other players like Garland/Myers. Garland would be at the top of my list to cut. I think Boeser has value on his own. If Schenn gets traded I would let him know I'd want him to be our captain next season and we're going to try to re-sign him this summer. He may come back. I love Pettersson, but I do think command of the English language is a necessity for talking with the media and Schenn does it well.

    no shot dubas trades for players with more than 1 years of term left on their contract unless the contract is a bargain… example: chychrun. you look at muzzin and murray. they are the exception with that extra year.. the team is built for the next season and thats about it… almost the entire roster minus a few will be off the books and need resigning..

    Canucks better trade everyone they can for 1st round draft picks ā€” doesnā€™t even matter if they are 3 or 4 years out. THEN on draft day they trade their next 5 1st round picks for the 1st overall pick. Get Conor Bedard and build the team around him.

    Actually, this is great advice for any team that is going to be rebuilding in the next year or two.

    So Stone is out and clearly struggling with something potentially career-threatening. Vegas is falling like a rock in the standings just as Calgary heats up. Any chance Vegas kicks tires on the JT Miller contract before his NMC kicks in this summer? As a Canuck fan I would be over the moon if they got a bag of pucks for Miller.

    For me I feel like Garland doesn't have that much value. If I were the leafs I would trade for him.

    What a fantasy on the Leaf-Canuks trade (realize you are just reporting what others write on this one, not your bad). Boeser having a horrible season scoring 2.6 pts per 60. NONE of the Leaf players mentioned on the trade is wanted or needed by the Canuks. Lets enter the realm or reality. 2023 first and second. Hirvonen and Niemela. Now the Leafs want a cap dump and salary retention, well that is going to cost the Leafs much much more. The deal can't be done. Kyle has no one else to blame except himself for the mess the team is in. While the MLSE media shines a huge spotlight on the Leafs winning percentage it doesn't mean much when they are in a pack with a bunch of other teams and the playoffs are much more competitive and the Leaf style of play for the regular season is shutdown in the playoffs. No cup this year for the Leafs. Again.
    Schenn alone will get more than just a second 2023 pick.

    Leafs should go after Timo and Barabonov. Pay the asking price for Schenn. Yup it is going to drain their picks and prospects. Go big or go home. He who hesitates is lost!!

    idk man i think this a bad contract for the Islanders, Horvat's shooting % is like up over 30; completely unsustainable. 8.5 mil aav for a player like Horvat(historical Horvat not this year Horvat) is a bad contract.

    Where would Boeser play on the Leafs? They donā€™t need any help on the top two lines for RW with mitch and nylander there. Boeser wonā€™t be effective as a third line winger. Its also a massive cost, no chance they are trading sandin+++ for boeser. Garland will be bought out and his cost is going to be 1.8m in years 2 & 3, and then continue for the canucks a further 3 years beyond that. If the canucks can hold 1.7 and get a minimal asset in return thats a win for them. Having garland on the books for next year means bye to bunting, which is lateral if not a downgrade for the Leafs.
    So as a Leafs fan a big no thank you to this deal.

    When Calgary traded Monahan 6.3 million they had to add a 1st round pick. So why would Toronto not want the same just for Myers. Then add in Garland on top. Leaf's have to give a first? Does not make sense. Not enough cap room for that trade unless Muzzin injury does not allow him to return. It is possible Garland might be a Bunting replacement for next year.
