When Kings fans rip the team for losing a lead in the 3rd period, remember that the Kings also sometimes come from behind in the 3rd period to win; the league is so even and players are human, having ups & downs re: effort & execution. Losing to Carolina is not shameful considering they have the 2nd best record in NHL plus the Kings are not an elite team, not yet. Longer term problem is netminding & not having an elite LHD for the 2nd defensive pair. What happens if Copley gets hurt or worsens a lot? Kings would miss the playoffs. So Blake needs to get at least a rental goalie by Mar 3 and a long term goalie this summer if they want to win a 3rd Cup in the next 1-4 yrs.
Getting an NHL goalie would be huge for the Kings right now. Especially since they have the worst goaltending in the league. But it sounds like the Kings want to keep their goaltending as is for the rest of the season. I don't really agree with sticking with what they have in net now but the Kings have other plans. Someone like korpisalo would be a decent upgrade from what the Kings have now. Not a long term solution for their starting position but should be good enough for now. Not sure if riding Copley the rest of the way is the best idea, as his play has started to dip recently.
The goal you are talking about was vs the Ducks. Split the two defenders and popped it over the goalies shoulder.
Decent road trip against some really good competition.
They really need to get the kids to work on a few things, like Durzi's turnovers, Byfield's penalties, etc. Those "little" things are killing us in tight games.
Apparently LeBrun already said Blake said he doesn't plan on making a trade deadline move for a goalie.
I don't understand why people are bitching about Copley. He's been amazing and certainly has been better than they thought they would get. Is he a true #1 for the next few years? Probably not, but go get a stud LD and improve your overall D, and your goaltending will improve greatly!!!
You can't worry about games in hand… what other teams such as Seattle, Edmonton etc, do. You just worry about yourself and the next game.
if the Kings do not get goal tending help you can kiss there playoff chances goodbye
I sure hope "Insider" Lebrun is wrong that Blake won't get a goalie by trade deadline. I can name 6-8 goalie possibilities that are not pipedreams but would require letting go of either a roster player and/or draft picks and/or prospects. We don't have enough room for all of the forwards & R dmen in the organizations. And we don't need draft picks more than we need to uograde netminding & LHD which would propel us to be a Cup contender & a favorite to win the Western Conference, imho. Can you imagine Saros in net? Very unlikely tho. But orhers are possible: Korpisalo, Vejmelka, Lankinen, Portillo, Wolf, Sorokin, Varamalov, and maybe 1-2 that I am missing. We have all of our '23 picks including two 3rds plus so many prospects & roster players that are replaceable. Do it Blake, have courage & get a goalie now, not just this summer. With our offensive & defense, and special teams, can you imagine how good we would be? I can!
