  1. that's why i wear one… if a puck is strong enough to break the throat guard i'd rather not take my chances with it hitting my neck

  2. …So this piece of equipment saves him from serious injury, and he decides NOT to put on another before playing again..?

  3. Hahah…That's like being in a car accident, having the air bag deflate down to nothing and then just rip/cutting it out and tossing it to the pavement and continuing to drive following it just saving your life lol

  4. Goalies who dont wear throat guards are crazy. I have gone through some of them myself, they do break on occasion, usually right in half. This game ended about halfway through OT so if Lehner did not have time to get a new one on his mask he likely only played about 5 minutes or so without it.

  5. When you tilt your head down, the throat guard gets pushed up by your chest protector and it covers areas that the mask alone already covers. As long as you're square to shots, and tilt your head down slightly, throat guards are unnecessary.

  6. Lucky he had one in the first place. Lol. If it wasn't there, his throat would be "shattered".

  7. I have always played without throat guard. U can't turn your head freely with it, witch makes it hard to see the puck if it's behind the net.

  8. They don't have a replacement throat guard? "well, this piece of plastic just saved me… Guess I'll go play without one now… I mean, lightning doesn't strike twice in the same spot, right?"… LOL

  9. goaltender for 12 years and that throat guard helps a lot. I've faced shots from junior c players and that thing has saved me from injury. regardless of people comments , you can never predict what bounces a puck is going to take. especially at NHL level hockey . you can buy neck guards like the one I have with a throat guard but it doesn't do justice. goalie equipment isn't impenetrable

  10. all other things aside, you'd think a professional NHL goalie could/afford would carry a spare throat protector or helmet with one. It's not that great of a leap in thinking that your helmet or pieces of it could break ingame with pucks, sticks and skated flying at you.

  11. I'm A 11 Year Old & I Have A Throat Guard On My Bauer NME3 Mask & It Saves Me From A Lot Of Hard Shots & It Saves Me From A Throat Injury Too. 😀

  12. I've never understood how goalies don't play without a dangler. If it were me I would be a little freaked out tbh.

  13. Everyone stop freaking out over something so stupid… Jesus.. there are a lot of goalies that don’t play with one at all.

  14. The odds of it hitting his throat twice in the same game are slim, but I understand what people are saying.

  15. Hmmmm, his throat guard has beed desteoyed while "maybe" saving his throat. Next: he is playing without a throat guard. Genius!

  16. old video but when i played goalie for my u18 team i took a slapper t the throat in practice, next day i went and bought a dangler. our next game i took another slapper in the same spot and it snapped it in half
