Just a terrible night all around.
We know the Leafs can step up and win with Matthews out, so hoping it’s just a one-off.
The Leafs have now lost AT LEAST once to the following bottom 10 ranked teams: 30th (ANA), 29th (ARI), 28th (SJS), 26th (MTL), 25th (OTT) & 24th (STL).
The only bottom teams they have gotten the job done against have been 27th (VAN) & 23rd (PHI). Perfect 4-0-0 between them.
They haven’t played the 32nd (CBJ) and 31st (CHI) ranked teams yet.
Today sucked.

The doom and gloom I’m seeing in the game thread are hilarious. The Leafs have been top 5 in the league all year. They lose to bad teams all the time. We’re making the playoffs. We’re facing Tampa in round 1. This was a worthless regular season game that will be completely forgotten in 2 weeks. I’ll see you guys on Sunday. GLG.

So that was exhausting. Boston finally loses a game, but at the cost of Tampa winning, and we go and shit the bed the next night.

Absolutely nothing positive out of this game. Forget it ever happened. Get back to work for next game and carry on.

Pretty bad game by nearly everyone, way too many turnovers and some pretty poor discipline. Thought the top line didn’t look great especially later on, and most of the defensemen had rough nights (especially Holl, Gio, and Timmins).
Sammy wasn’t sharp at all, but it’s tough to blame him too much coming in unexpectedly.
We’re better than this though. On to Sunday.
Some positives: I liked the power play for the most part, real nice play from rielly on the first goal. I thought nylander had some good jump, and didn’t mind Kerfoot from what I saw. McMann is limited but looks solid in the bottom six, same with Anderson.
People don’t want to hear it but Murray hasn’t worked out at all. His cap-hit of $4.7 M isn’t worth it.
He has been exactly as advertised: injury prone and inconsistent at best when he is healthy.
Samsonov was put into a tough spot today cause he wasn’t ready to start this game.
What is with all these people gaslighting fans? Doomers have a solid reason for being doom and gloom. These people have watched the same habits and tendencies for like 7 years. Statistically, people have an extremely good reason to feel shitty about this team especially when you can realistically mark their losses on a calender and be right most of the time.
They almost got them.
Not going to get too reactionary, but the boys were just WAY too sloppy. And we really need to make some moves for more scoring. If one (or more) of our top 4 is out or not playing well, this team just falls apart.
