  1. Personally, I think after Trevor Linden left because no one was listening, there was pressure from ownership on Benning to be a playoff team yesterday, so in order to save his job, he did what most of us would do. Forget about long term goals. My butt is on the line and I have to do something. So he took a bunch of stupid risks that you typically take when you're close to a Cup. Unfortunately, they weren't even a playoff team, and Benning lost his job because his desperate moves didn't work.

  2. Move Meyers up to right wing it worked with Charra and Byflugen he is going to be more effective in front of the opposition net than trying to play defense

  3. I wonder if making a bet that the Canucks will end the season at 500 hockey is a sound bet? I suppose I could always ask an expert gambler…someone like gambling Rick Tocchet??

  4. I used to play ball hockey with Taylor. LOL These guys fail to mention that the Canucks let Motte go and how well the 4th line performed last season killing penalties and going up against the oppositions top line. Not to mention how goal tending isnt bailing them out.

  5. the worst part of the outrage the vancouver media has drummed up is now jim rutherford has specifically stated he is no longer going to be completely honest with the news media. Thats what we the fans want but once again vancouver media has made it so that we will once again be left in the dark. A new general manager was always going to bring in there own coach like its always been done, except here in vancouver such simple changes are made into huge lies and outrage. For years making so much about the coaches contract which is none of the medias buisness in the first place but people like farhan lalji thinking its his oppertunity to play the blame game and thrown a pathetic immature tantrum. The teams issue is defense, not the coach like the media says.
this is what we want from the media, interviews with past greats like Yannik Hansen!

  6. Hansen has consistently given the best takes on the Canucks. He should be in the broadcast booth.

  7. Boy am I ever sick of this notion that there were all these great defensive dmen available last summer to sign to fix the blue line. There was nothing out there last summer. As for the pk Mikheyev and Lazar were quality pk guys for the leafs and boston the year prior. They didn't forget how to defend.

  8. Jannik earned his coin to provide his current life style. Where does he live these days? He knows so much about the current team and league.

  9. 53 years zero cups while teams like Florida and Tampa have won cups …it really is awful …..and we can’t even get into the playoffs now

  10. "If you're on "Team Tank" its goin in the right direction." LMFAO The Honey Badger always has the best quotes… love it when you guys have him on!

  11. Jannik nailed it, they got no penalty killers that can block some shots, and with the way the zebra's are calling penalties these days that is one giant hole they have to fill. That is on management not the coaches. Special teams win hockey games. When you have poor goal tending, poor penalty killers it is really hard to win when your penalty kill may set a record this year for futility, then on top of that puck management and defensive assignments being missed on the regular don't help. Yep not a great idea having Hughes and Petey, your star players blocking the big shots and risking breaking a leg or ankle. The new coaches got their work cut out for them and maybe the managers can see they have to upgrade the penalty kill for next year. Nice to see Jannik on team Bomb for Bedard.

  12. Tocchet man ain't going to turn Tyler Myers into Cale Makar and OEL into Roman Josi. Maybe turn Myers into PK and OEL into Reilly for more efficient giveaways.

  13. Mike Yeo will communicate old systems to new guard, but frankly, Mike Yeo and Trent Cull should have been replaced. NOT BRUCE. Bruce needed defensive strategists not Mike Yeo who turns every team he coaches into dumpsterfires.

Tocchet should have been the assistant, read to take over after Bruce leaves. Didn't Tocchet win 2 cups as an Assistant?

  14. I love how Jannik has no problems saying what everyone else is thinking. No sugar on those cookies at all!

  15. For me, it always come down to coaching. These players don't challenge at the blue line. The forechecking in our zone is abysmal. Too much space for too long a time. There are more issues yet.

  16. I've had the privilege of chatting with The Great Dane a few times in the basement of Rogers after the games when I worked there. Awesome guy, smart player, genuine and warm personality. Like others have said, always has a good honest take and speaks openly. Happy he is being dad and hubby and enjoying life after hockey as he should.

I wonder if Bieksa could talk him into a HNIC gig from time to time … the two of them would make the broadcast awesome!

  17. The signing of Miller instead of trading him at full value and his subsequent fall of a cliff in performance is the most "Canucks" thing that could have happened. It's their own damn fault and it serves them right, always take the easy way out with a retool and not a rebuild.

  18. Hope they don't get any new coach bump this time around and continue to lose. Would be huge to lose to Chicago and CBJ this week. They have one of the easiest schedules in the league now tho which is why the move was probably made now. They'll have an improvement in ppg with the schedule and management will use that as a smokescreen and saying issue is Bruce heading into next year. Cycle of missing the playoffs as a middle of the pack team will continue and won't get the high end picks they need as a result.

  19. Have been picked up to replace top pairing d men. I have not seen any different from Benning so far.

  20. the one guy that actually knows about teams and what goes on behind the scenes. He knows more then 80 percent of the media in vancouver. Thank goodness for a real professional.

  21. If you didn’t know who Jannick was, you’d think he was the local foreign guy who has good hot takes they like to talk to

  22. Always dig Jannik Handsome and his blunt take. I know of a great penalty killer that has a non stop motor, hits everything and has wheels. Guy's a threat to score shorthanded once every two games and could easily get ten goals a year. Only making $1.35mil on a team not making the playoffs. Bonus, he's a UFA at the end of the year. Goes by Motte, Tyler.

  23. Love the candid interview from Jannik Hansen. The entire hockey world knew the biggest problem with the Canucks was on D, and Hansen pointed very concretely that Alex Edler and Chris Tanev were never replaced, and also that this is a personnel problem, not a coaching problem. I sometimes wonder if Rutherford purposely botched this past off-season to give Bruce Boudreau a dysfunctional defensive crop so he would have the excuse to fire him to bring in his own guy… but is that too much of a conspiracy theory?

  24. Jannick Hansen is completely right….The real problem and PR nightmare is Jim and Patrick…..J.T Miller Ekman-Larsson and Tyler Myers needs to be traded away for rental players and lots of draft picks….You can't keep going to the same direction if things are not working at all….. It's too painful to watch this….😒

  25. Hansen really should be hired by someone for broadcasts. The Honey Badger sees the game better than most and played an honest game on the ice.

  26. did you guys know that Christian Aquillie is the game canucks dressring room attendant.. meaning there is an Aquillini in the dressing room… maybe thas why the team is sour. and sucks.. why the fuck in an Aquillini a dressring room attendant LOL… is he a spy or something

  27. Hansen tells it like it is. We need real defencemen who aren’t scared of blocking a shot. OEL and Myers need to go
