    I was there too! Been to about 20 games in the past 2 years and this one was the loudest and rowdiest by farrrrr 😂😂😂 GO FLAMES GOOOO

    i guess he chose lame over cold? i'm from Philly and i know we wanted him but our general manager is a slow adult so we kept our award winning team as is.

    What impressed me most is the guy at the beginning wearing the Joe Colborne jersey. Jeez, how long ago was that? As a Flames fan, Gaudreau leaving didn't bother me that much because after the way they got blitzed by Edmonton in last year's playoffs, I knew that that line up would never win anything for the Flames, so might as well try something new. I watched them for about 10 years (after their 2004 finals run) try to build something around Iginla and it never worked. And they didn't get "nothing" for Gaudreau. They got cap space, which allowed them to sign Huberdeau. I don't think this line up is going to win anything either. A middling team, too good to move down, not good enough to move up. What they've been most of their history.

    I went to the game! Booed him on the penalty shot, mainly in fear of him scoring. But I stood for his video tribute. He left abruptly and led us on, but I needed to be thankful for the years of entertainment he gave to me, my family and the rest of the fans. I hope he regrets his decision more and more everyday!!

    My God…Calgary fans shouldn’t forgive this guy, and he should be considered public enemy #1! Gaudreau abandoned his team, under BS pretense, and you still fawn over him. It’s sad to see. “I wanna be close to my family…waaaaaaaa… Right, so he moves SEVEN HOURS AWAY from his family.

    I watched the game from home, and it was crazy how much they were booing at him, and Gaudreau getting tripped before the game winner was just poetic 😂😂😂

    A rookie NHL player's career is frought with obligations. Once they're drafted, they're pretty much beholden to the team that has their rights. If a plyer is drafted in the second round or later, they have a 1/32 chance of being drafted by their favourite team. In the first round they could have a smaller, or even less chance, depending on where their preferred team lines up in draft order or in lottery chances for the #1 pick.

    By the time their entry-level contract expires, they're still a restricted free agent, so they can really only sign with the team that drafted them. Although there are rules about it, they can't really sign with another team without their restricted team being able to match the offer to keep you there.

    After a player becomes eligible for unrestricted free agency, usually at the age of 27, or after playing 7 years in the NHL (so 25 if one's been playing in the NHL since 18). This is the first time in their professional career where they finally have agency, and apparently for Gaudreau, that was important.

    As a Flames fan, I acknowledge Johnny's right to decide what he did, but I do not respect it at all. I sincerely hope he never achieves anything noteworthy in the league beyond a fat paycheque in Columbus.

    I was at the game too. I've never heard an nhl player get a crowd to boo them so loudly. Or cheer so much after he missed that penalty shot.

    Gaudreau is on another level compared to huberdeau, huberdeau was noticable on some plays but gaudreau was flying and that perfect saucer pass to laine was incredible, that's the difference between good passers and playmakers vs the best passers and playmakers

    Booing a player that leaves as a free agent then cheering his return video is always fair. Probably what i would do
