It seems the league needs to create yet another rule to cut this out of the game and call it something else cause interference is inconsistent of a penalty to call on its own these days….2 minutes for..picking?..lol I mean when you've created a faster game like a European game with north American style with north American sized rink those two playing styles are guna clash no matter what
Games fast calls are missed all the time stop whining, move on
Both are interference. Neither goal should count however Leaf fans need to check the privilege and get with reality here as they have been rewarded it seems an unlimited number of times this season with so many freebies where officials either don't see a clear offence they commit that do at times generate goals or make fantasy calls to null goals against the Leafs. Refs against the Leafs. That is just laughable.
Colarado does lots of 'subtle' pick maneuvers like they are playing basket ball. Leafs got ripped off on that no call vs TB
I don’t think the officials are against the Leafs. However, they do let some teams and players like the Av’s and Makar/Mickinon away with a lot of stuff.
The Leafs interference was not as clear as MacKinnon's…. That is clear. Holl looked like he didn't know where to go, and got a penalty for it. Crap call…
Leaf fans should just be absolutely fuming for being Leaf fans! I smell another first round playoff exit!! GIGGITY!
easy one. in the maple game the player caused interferrence because he never had the puck. makar having the puck less tha a second earlier gives him right to hit the coming player (and the right to the coming player to hit him)
…please…
It's about country status if it's to us team playing they win they get all the right calls if it's a Canadian team plan they got the wrong calls sore losers were always winning World Juniors and the Olympics gold medals Oh Canada go they don't want us to have the Stanley Cup t00
That’s easy: because it’s this year and a different game and set of refs. How many “kicked goals” were allowed in the regular season of 2021-22 and yet during the Calgary v EDM series (same year/season) Colemans goal was ruled a kick. So not even between regular and post season is it called the same.
But sure let’s get every call EXACTLY right and take 10 minutes to review it. They can review, goals, offsides, delay of game but penalties… eh no that’s too far.
Steve Dangle best said it you get 3 angles of a goal. Far, close, and the coaches bench looking at monitors.
Hum…. No controversy here! Mckenon had the puck the other guy came for him. The guy from the leaf never had the puck. that's the difference.
NHL refs have been trash all year.
Rules for thee, but not for me
They aren't even close to the same. Nate MacKinnon had the puck and dished to Makar then stayed on his line. He also moved to not make solid contact with the Detroit player. The Leafs' call was because the Lightning player was trying to defend the puck carrier when the Leaf player (without the puck) went out of his way to make solid contact picking the defender off.
I have given up on this
The issue that I see is that neither were reasonably interference.
There is no obligation on the leafs player to "get out of the way" of buddy chasing the puck carrier. None.
You cannot get INTO the way, but you do not have to dodge an attacking player.
Waiving the goal off was the wrong call.
I guess if the refs hand went up prior to the goal and he just didnt manage to blow the whistle in time…
But it is not a challengeable play, a non-called interference that is…
It is not something they can review… but it was ruled a no-goal on the ice. So i guess there is that.
2 wrong calls do not make a right
This is karma from when Toronto got extremely lucky against New Jersey where they had three disallowed goals which were all garbage calls.
IT'S CAUSE OF THEM BEING CANADIAN! ALL CANADIAN TEAM GET FUCKED BY THE REFS! I SEE IT SO MUCH IN OILER GAMES!!!! 💯
Respectfully, leafs fans, that series was last year, so go cry about it.
''NHL'' nothing else to say
Blatant, Saturday January 14. Leafs tie game 2-2 and are pressing when Bruin's goalie Linus Ullmark tosses his stick to the corner disrupting the play and allowing the Bruins to get the puck down the ice and score. Instead of the Bruins going up 3-2, Ullmark should have gotten a penalty and been short handed. The announcers were split as one said it was a missed penalty and the other claiming Ullmark lost control of his stick.
Leaf fans have so much more to worry about .. Those poor misguided souls
It's more financially beneficial for the Leafs to keep losing in the playoffs. The reffing will always have shitty biased reffing.
We’re furious ?
No Canadian team will ever win the cup for along time
These plays are nothing alike…. Mackinnon couldn’t get out of the way, so he passed to Makar, while the Toronto goal was a deliberate interference play. Toronto player deliberately ran into the Tampa player… Toronto fans are a bunch of babies
That's settled then.
The leafs have one of the worst referee luck.
(the stars got some bad refs too, Calgary in like game 5 I think of the playoffs last season, got 11 penalties, only 2 called for. A major highsticking/charging should've been called but they didn't. The player who made the hit did get suspended though.
The real question is: what was Detroit's #82 doing on this play?? It looks like he completely missed Mac's open pass to Makar, kept following Mac to the top of the circle, and left his side open for Makar to swoop in on. Oesterle is supposed to be a defenseman. He needs to learn to play his position, instead of wandering all over the ice chasing a phantom. Every Leaf defenseman could learn the same lesson.
The only thing I will say about this play is that it develops much more slowly than in the one in the Leafs game. Mac wasn't skating, just drifting. So there was all kinds of time between the pass and the contact to avoid contact. Instead, it looks from the angle at 0:41 that he turned into the contact. I could see this as a bit of a late hit, so a kind of pick, but from other angles and at regular speed it is still hard to tell which player is more responsible for the contact.
I personally don't think it should be a penalty.
Leafs still would’ve lost, their fans are the most butt hurt group of people ever for complaining about this one
