Mikael Granlund is way better than Fiala, Granlund has way more points and way better plus minus rating amd fiala plays with forsberg and johansen.

I agree with you that Nashville robbed Minnesota in this deal. Granlund is 65+ fast, pass first, 2nd line winger that doesn't hurt you defensively. + He has 1 year left on 5,5 mil deal. AND he has an option to play as a center too, but he is not as good as a center, but emergency 3rd line center is fine with him.
Fiala is 45 point guy, who can only play at the wing. He has a better shot than Granlund and he is younger, but that is where the advantages stop. Fiala is worse defensively and there are rumors of him being a negative in the locker room.
The only positive i see with this for Minnesota is that Fiala will likely only cost them 3-4.5 mil depending on the deal. Granlund is a solid 5.5-6.5 guy so they might save a bit in cap, but i think most people will agree that they saved on wrong player.

Knowing Minnesota Granlund will finish with 186 points and score every goal in the playoffs for Nashville and single handedly win them the cup, but at least granny will have a cup.
Gotta disagree with you on the Granlund one. Much younger with what I (and Minnesota believe) uncapped potential. Minnesota definitely one of many winners of the deadline. Donato gonna bite Boston in the butt, and now Fiala who's potential I believe is better than Granlund's. (Similar but not quite as bad as the Brassard/Zibanejad swap). I think Minnesota gets the better of the deal long term, and eventually the better player

Mikael Granlund plays the same kind of reasonable hockey as Eeli Tolvanen. I hope they will give them the opportunity to show it in the same chain.
