Vinny vs Neims. Neims is a hitting machine but his D (and wingspan) isn't what Vinny's is. I think you're right that Vinny stays to give him a bit more time but still that leaves us a LOT short to pay for Evander Kane to come back. Okay math time (you have my permission to hate me for that but sorry, I'm a math guy), per CapFriendly:
Evander Kane: $5,125,000.00
Vinny OR Neims: 762,500.00 Calvin Picard: 762,500.00 (because Stu will be back by when Kane returns (and he's cheaper for us this year)). I'm not sure if Emergency Loans count against the cap or not. Derek Ryan: 1,250,000.00 (BUT going to the minors we ONLY get 1,075,000 (I think) ———————————————– Sub-Total 2,600,000.00 Balance needed for Kane: 2,525,000.00 Which means EITHER Foegelle or Puljujarvi being traded works BUT what about parking more guys down:
Parking: Shore would only give us 850,000 more So not enough and at this stage (with Shore still at the NHL) we're at a 21 man roster WITH Kane (so we'd have to trade or run under a 20 man roster. We can move Ryan Murray to LTIR (which free's up another 750K) but Murray and Shore is only 1.6 million of the 2.525 we still need and we have, effectively, ZERO cap space (though maybe 850K, it's hard to read and understand). If we have 850K the 1.6 million plus 850K still leaves us about 200K short for Kane. We get more for sending Holloway down than Shore. We get more for Broberg going down than Neims or Vinny.
Sorry folks, math is the problem here. You really want a minimum 20 man roster (12, 6, 2) but that won't be easy.
This year is hard but unless the cap goes up a lot next year is worse. I'm going to play with my puppy and think happy thoughts and hope for a visit from the Cap Fairy.
100% Agree that Evander Kane will Likely be back between Jan 25 Against Columbus, There will be a Trade in Works probably not this Weekend but next weekend will defiantly be a deal in place for Evander to come off LTIR.
I agree with your speculations, Ryan going down and RF or JP being traded. I’d bet on JP since Holland has been shopping him for so long now and if a team is willing to trade for JP he’s going to do it in a heartbeat. I’m just hoping Holland doesn’t get fleeced in the deal and send the Oilers back to the decade of darkness 2.0
I don’t think Derek Ryan will go down simply because he’s a right shot that is about 50% in the circle, which of the players that take face offs regularly he’s 2nd on the team. He is a key guy for specific situations and so if he’s gone, I’d just be surprised they’d want to weaken an already weak team at center.
The return of Kane as well as the the play of Janmark , Kosin and Vinnie have shown that the team can trade away assets . JP hopefully gone soon is the hope . The Vegas game will show if Vinnie is up to the task as well.

Oilers really need to roll the 4 lines are lot more evenly! It's not right or good for the players to sit for 18 minutes a period!!
Agree with these players going elsewhere. Loving Dehaurnais (sp) play and lost in is turning into an impact player too!
