JFresh released a player card of the Cap. You mean to tell me we’re in serious danger of losing this?

to be fair, look at the big jump in WAR this season. goes from ~75-80% to 100%. He’s going to demand a huge salary and I don’t think he will maintain this (certainly not his shooting percentage)

  2. DirectorIsaac

Fucking whatever dude, sure Jt is playing like shit right after getting the bag but I don’t think for a minute Bo can replicate this. If he doesn’t it’ll be the same story as all the other contracts we’ve handed out to career years.

  3. Firestorm238

Hate to say it, but the serious danger is with not trading him.

  4. If you are wanting this team to be successful moving forward: You trade him.

  5. smcfarlane

He’s a 55-60 point player who will consistently score 30 goals.

    This year is his outlier.

  6. timorousme

they have an opportunity to sell high that they passed on last year and it bit them in the ass (or would if it would back-check to keep up with the ass)

it sucks, but trading bo is the best move. this team can’t rebuild in time to use him, and can better use the return he would yield.

it’s akin to when they traded linden to keep messier. it’s going to hurt to see him go, and huet to watch the dude they chose over him, but the linden trade led directly to todd bertuzzi and indirectly to the sedins and luongo. that’s what has to happen with bo. a move that stings emotionally, but with hindsight, looked back upon fondly for kick-starting a new era.

We’re in danger of keeping this.

He’s having a career year offensively due to the Canucks 100% offense system. When a new coach comes in and demands they play some defense his numbers will drop. Add on top of that he’s motivated to play for himself due to a contract year, recipe for another disaster signing.

  8. reyskywalker7698

I mean it sucks but he has to be traded. Something has to change. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result. Horvat is not going to put the numbers he’s putting up again. He’s 55 to 60 maybe 65 point player. Plus we have seen what happens when you give a player coming off of a career season. The play drops off. Plus most likely the next coach in Vancouver is going to demand that this team play better defense and if Horvat stays his numbers will drop because the next coach will be demanding better defense. Plus the team would be repeating the same mistakes that were made with J.T Miller. Lastly this team desperately needs draft picks and prospects and younger players who can play right away. Bo Horvat would give the Canucks that.

Bo drops next season so don’t count on it, not worth the 8plus he’s asking

  10. CaptainIndoCanadian

If I’m understanding this correctly, this is based on 3 years worth of data, ya? Meaning, while obviously this year he’s absolutely ridiculous and it’s pumping these numbers up, last year and the year before he was also damn good lol.

Everyone calling him a 30 goal scorer need to realize he was on pace for about 35 last year and had Bruce come along sooner he likely could’ve hit 40. He’s not a 60 goal guy but he’s better than he was 2 years ago.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SELL HIGH.

  11. typeronin

Bo’s prime might be with another team.

    Fuck Aqualini.

  12. niftynards

Those numbers look pretty good to other teams with draft picks falling out of their pockets too.

  13. DBCrapper

Canucks needs to trade him, by the time this team will be competitive he will be in his 30’s and probably not producing near as good as he is now.

  14. ontheDB-22

I wonder what JT’s cards from last year and this year look like.

  15. Chedwall

We should loose that, if we keep him we loose more. We lost him the day we signed JT miller

  16. g0kartmozart

This is the player card of someone who is going to be traded for a haul

  17. Bolias-Horvatsson

We’re in danger of staying mediocre forever if we keep the team the same

  18. hexsealedfusion

They shouldn’t keep him either way.

  19. ijekster

97% finishing, the stat with the smallest sample size, is boosting his war massively.

  20. WTFvancouver

Since when did this management group care about analytics?

  21. TattooedBrogrammer

Girls must love him with a 97% finish

  22. We aren’t “losing” anything. We suck, and have for years. Time to do things the right way. What we GET for trading Hovat is Assets. Something we have actually a negative amount of. We have no assets and players with negative value. How do you improve with that?

  23. cheguevara9

Have you been following hockey for the past few years? He has never produced at this pace (or even anything close to this) and will turn 30 pretty soon.

If we don’t trade him for an absolutely inflated boatload of return in areas that this team desperately needs help in (defense), then that’s the biggest mistake we can make now.

  24. overscaled

Other than scoring, Bo’s another ace is his faceoff draws. But he constantly loses key draws. Take yesterday’s game as an example, two key draws he lost, one ended up in our net within seconds after the draw on a 5-3 PK and another cost us to regroup on a 5-3 PP.

  25. DJSkingz

I am prepared for what will inevitably happen. We either keep him for a “run” at a wildcard spot and he walks as a UFA or we re-sign him to a ridiculous contract, he regresses as we all know he will, and we maintain the status quo.

If this management team actually manages to get a haul for Bo at the TDL I will be pleasantly surprised.

  26. Scott4117

Yes. Yes we are. We can’t continue to keep the core we have an expect different results. Did they make a mistake signing JT over Bo? Yes, but it’s done, it’s signed, and we’re likely going to lose our captain for it. However, that’s not going to change.

Continuing to bemoan the fact doesn’t change the likely outcome.

  27. one-eid-willy

Bo Horvat is my favourite Canuck, but he’s been the leader of a team that has been absolutely terrible for the vast majority of his captaincy. While his own play has been good/great, he has to own part of this team’s failures. He seems like a good man on top being a good player, but that’s not enough for me and it shouldn’t be enough for anyone who wants this franchise to be a winner. A leader needs to motivate a team, drag teammates toward victory, and help teach others how to win. He is clearly not doing that, and hasn’t been doing it for the better part of his time as captain.

I’m not afraid to lose Bo Horvat if it it makes the next decade of Canucks hockey any more bearable than this last one has been.

  28. Jfresh getting that kickback to release this now wooooo

  29. haihaiclickk

we are not “losing” this player. we are (hopefully) going to get value back in a trade that equals the WAR that Bo’s providing THIS YEAR. That should be super exciting for this franchise and for the fans.

  30. RobsBurglars

That’s right! Because bad decisions are what Canucks management does best.

  31. chrisdks

The danger is keeping everyone, with increase in their caphit with their new contracts. They need to be traded for a haul that can help the team build around Petey & Hughes.

  32. PomDeezNutz

I reserve my opinions till I see what his next contract will be. I thought the Miller signing myself was pretty damn good when it came out. I can almost guarantee people would of been crying “ we’re losing a 99 point stud. A point per game player etc if he wasn’t resign

I hope horvat shatters records. Better for us. We might end up with a good package in return . Elias and Quinn is more important. Heck before this year, you could say thatcher demko also. For now. Petterson , Hughes and Demko have decent contracts. Teams don’t trade decent contracts unless they are getting a hell of a return.

  33. brandedwaffle

For the competition he faces, Bo isnt as bad defensivley as people make him out to be. He has gotten better. About average now

  34. The_Cozy_Burrito

He deserves a better team and a chance to win

  35. resolve028

I would have picked Bo over Miller but the decision has been made for us already by this management team. Get whatever we can for him and hope he does well when he’s away from this dumpster fire we call a hockey team. He’s earned it.

  36. Seth_Jarvis_fanboy

Bo Horvat will be raising the cup one day, with Vancouver or elsewhere

  37. Wouldn’t it be great if we traded Bo for first round pick this coming season which unexpectedly turns into Bedard??? A lot of things will have to fall into place like for the winner of Survivor. A lot of luck, a lot of skill (winning immunity challenges) and a lot of social “likeabilityness” – ie. having a GM that other teams respect.
