We’ve got good depth here. It would play out well for the season, but to make a serious run, gonna add to the defense, I feel like

This whole rumor makes no sense..the Canucks trading a star player to a division rival who already has an over abundance of centers?

  3. cpmailman

I highly doubt Aquilini would let the Canucks trade their C to a division and geographic rival.

Just clickbait. It doesn’t make any sense.

Complete non-story. It is not happening, no chance.

  6. Good player, wrong position. You have to budget for Beniers/Wright as your C1 & C2 of the future.

Extend 26 year old Vince Dunn.

You could definitely sell me on trading for 24 year old Jakob Chychryn; especially if that 1st round pick is late’ish. Right position, right age.

I like Horvat, but it doesn’t make much sense. Center is not a place of need unless it’s a guy that is great in the faceoff circle. Plus while he will likely get moved idk why you’d do it in division.

I could see him maybe going to MN but would be tough for them with the cap.

Right who would want a 30G scoring center who is good at faceoffs, reasonably good in his own end, has a solid (if incomplete) playoff record, and has scored about 50G in his last 82 games.

Horvat would be such a pickup. Beniers/Horvat in the middle is solid.

Dont even try and trade for him. If he makes it till the end of the year, try and sign him as a free agent.

As others have said the defense is the space to grow. Have to resign Dunn and find one or two guys who can shore up the d and I don’t know who’s really available and affordable given our trajectory. Beniers is a legit 1C to me and wright is meant to get there. We are not a cup contender so why would we take a guy on 7×7 to be our future third or possibly second center (if wright doesn’t develop) and give up both future prospects and valuable cap room? We have to protect our money for beniers, wright and a stud defenseman.

The only way I would really do this is if they would take one of wennberg or gourde and like two mid rounders and they won’t because this isn’t my NHL save lol.
