  1. It's all about their positioning. When goalies are playing well, they play the angles really well and it makes it appear the shots are easy saves. Samsonov and Murray are good goalies (not great) and they're going to have ups and downs during the season. I would be surprised if they're not still Toronto's goalies come playoff time. Maybe Murray has another good run in him.

  2. As a Leaf fan, this feels so over the top… They absolutely regressed and were not playing great for the last month, but Samsonov having 4 below average performances in which we went 2-1-1 (5 pts from a possible 8) is nowhere near having a "goaltending problem". Not to mention that streak came after two back-to-back shutouts. Murray's regression was worse in my opinion, but again a 9 game stretch with 5 games of below average performances and 4 games of great performances should not be raising alarms to the extent of possibly needing to make changes, especially when the record over that stretch is 5-3-1 (11 pts from 18). I'm not trying to say they haven't underperformed because they absolutely have and its worthy of being pointed out, but the idea that it indicates changes may need to be made any time soon is ridiculous and the most Leafs fan/media reaction possible lol. Hopefully they can find a happy medium and their performances can become a bit more consistent, even if that means they aren't always reaching the crazy high sv% they have in some starts this year.

  3. When they have four or more bad games in a row and your save % drops bellow 900 well that is something you got to keep an eye on. Let them see if they work through it make a decision at the deadline

  4. Why is anyone surprised the Leafs went on a heater without all of the puck moving, offensive dmen? I don't get it. I do understand that it is simply uncomfortable to question Morgan Reilly's contribution to this team and his chemistry in fitting in now that the leafs have become more defensive oriented. Reilly's offensive talent is evident, however, his defensive deficits overshadow his offensive play. Given the leafs don't truly have a number one dman, are prone to lazy back checking nights by forwards (sometimes because the veterans are back on d), and are top 5 in giveaways….it becomes more evident that too many puck moving, offensive dmen, who are not that great at actually playing d, are not going to help this team (especially come playoff time). I do hope the chemistry they had during the streak will return (and this looks like it happening in last 2 games). That said, it is important to manage their time and equally distributing dman time might serve this team more effectively. Hopefully Timmins will play and not sit, as he has a nice balance of offensive contribution and positionally sound d play.

  5. Sammy always let in bad goals with the caps. Like every game there was one goal that just makes you scowl. And he can get a little crazy in the crease. Definitely a good athlete though and I hope he puts it all together.

  6. Murray should get the odd penalty now and again for knocking the net off purposely clearly. Sammy will come back to form soon.

  7. No goaltending problem on the Leafs. Every goalie lets in a bad one now and then, but in most cases this year, the team in front of them was a factor too. If the Leafs play well defensively, these goalies are good enough.

  8. What about how the team is playing in front of goal. All of a sudden we ate back to allowing a ton of odd man rushes.

  9. Our goaltending issues will soon be our D. April will be fun 🀣🀣🀣 Gio and Holl your top 4? Lol, they need a damn winger on the 2nd line and maybe a D, goalie lol they paying 2 goalies over 6m already. Steve, start getting over these players, don't be a Dubas, he's gone season end.

  10. The only problem they have is that they haven't locked the 2 tenders to the standard team friendly hometown discount contract of 8 years 11 million per year each!!! BOOK IT!!!

  11. I look at, particularly when a sub-90.0 save % applies to a goalie, how many soft (or what I classify as "ugly") goals a goalie gives up. Just hours ago the 2nd Blues' goal Markstrom of the Flames gave up was ugly given the shot that had gone through him. That goal was a factor in a Flames' OT loss although subpar D early in the 3rd period also was.
