Hopefully next draft is good too, cause full-time 2C JT Miller is going to lose us a lot of match-ups

Sounds like a great plan then to trade Horvat. 🙄

I hope the new contract Bo is as good as playing for a contract Bo.

Lol it’s actually comical how this season has gone

This team is hard to watch right now. A lot of mismanagement and lack of effort on the ice. At least we have Petterson and Hughes

That feeling when the owner has been playing fantasy hockey with his NHL team for the past 10 years…

This FO is just as bad as JB lol. They couldn’t tell that Miller wasn’t a good C before re-signing him, and now they are about to lose our actual 2C in Horvat.
Great. Once Petey leaves we will have Miller as our 1C and dries as our 2C lol.
But not to worry, we are swimming in wingers lol.

hmmm I should convince Aqualini to join my high stakes fantasy league , could retire in a season or so

Cam Charron has been looking at Miller at W vs C from an X’s & O’s standpoint.
More or less his takeaways were JT Miller is a good skater, but lacks some of the shiftiness you want in a center. And he excels in passing east-west. So as a winger, when he gets an outlet pass he is usually good at finding someone breaking out with speed. But those east-west passes on the breakout don’t work as much when you’re the centre. Basically he works way better when he is your f1.
With JT Miller, you’re basically looking at an elite winger with high end 2-way ability. Or you’re looking at a centre who creates a lot offensively but gives up an equal/greater amount back defensively.
So ideally when you do your opening season lineup, JT Miller is on the wing and when you run into injuries he can slide into the middle on an interim basis.

What a huge miscalculation by management to pay Miller like he was a center based on just one season and not only that but to do it when he had another year left to show you if it was an anomaly. Instead, he was able to use that one season to maximize his leverage in contract negotiations. Just a massive unforced error from this management group.

Can we trade Myers instead?

There, I fixed the article.

I don’t want Horvat to go, but the other part of me say this team needs a shake up. And what other player can we trade where we will actually get something in return. Sorry it has to be you Horvat, but it’s our best play. Hope you get traded to a top contender, as soon as possible!

We could trade for Ryan McLeod from the Oilers maybe. He could easily be a middle 6 center for us, making basically league minimum, though he will be due for a modest pay raise when his contract expires. Not sure we have the assets to acquire him though, but honestly he’s a solid 2-way center from what I’ve seen of him.

This a strawman argument. Who thought this? Part of the difficulty in doing anything with Miller and Bo is that this team has a well-known deficiency of natural centers both on the roster and in the pipeline.

Petey – 1, JT – 2, need a third line defending centre, 4 – farmhand
When did we last have a third line defending centre? Sutter was brought in to play 2c then was put in matchups but couldn’t stay healthy.
