WINTER Bass Fishing Secrets (Jeff Kriet's January Jigs & Cold Water Lures) [Taking Down Soon]

When Jeff Kriet talks about fishing cold water, he’s not talking about 52 degrees, when most people go to a jerkbait and maybe put down their topwaters. He’s talking about really cold, like dead-of-winter cold. Just because you get a warm spell, doesn’t mean that the water isn’t still 39 degrees. Jeff Kriet traditionally does well in winter and early spring tournaments where the water is very cold. He starts by telling you what most anglers, even many top-level bass fishing tournament anglers, go wrong. One of his biggest tips is to fish for “a” bite, don’t go out with a head of steam expecting a non-stop action on reaction baits.

Jeff Kriet goes on to talk about his favorite lures for fishing in really cold water, more importantly, he talks about what makes his rigs different and how he fishes them differently. Kriet has the secrets you need to go from, “The fishing sucks”, to “Fishing’s great, you should have come!”.

  1. I am a huge fan of Jeff Kristen!!! Met him at the CONROE Classic at the EXPO!!! He is a very nice person and conversationalist!!! Enjoyed this topic that he was teaching as he went really in depth with several lures!!! He had a very funny conversation with Jason Christie, who is another of my favorite fishermen, very funny !!!!

  2. This guy is talking about finesse fishing like he invented it, where I live everybody fishes like this in the winter, and I'm in the south. Also, no way I'm throwing an eighth ounce jighead on a baitcaster. But, thanks for posting!

  3. We haven't had winter yet…… don't think it's coming this year….

  4. Just want to thank Jeff and Bass U! Watched this video Fri night before fishing Sat and Sunday! Did my pond hopping water temp 39 degrees! Jan fishing is one of my favs! Took my go to blade baits jigs and jerkbaits! Always do ok but I followed Jeff’s advice to the T and showed great restraint in teqnique! Because of his advise I had one of my best Jan ever! I increased my catch by 50% and sizes were better too! I thought I was going to be bored to death I was wrong! Hope to get again this month? Thanks again!
