A failed coach’s challenge from John Tortorella completely changed Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, and Rhett and Pinder break down the moment everyone is still talking about. Did the officials get the goaltender interference call right, or did the Vegas Golden Knights get screwed out of a potential game-winning goal? The boys debate Tortorella’s decision to challenge the play, the fallout that followed, and how Carolina took advantage before eventually tying the series in overtime. Later, TSN’s Darren Dreger joins the show to give his take on the controversial sequence, what he’s hearing around the league, and whether Vegas has a legitimate reason to be upset. Did the NHL get this one right, or should Golden Knights fans still be furious? Let us know in the comments.

Not a goal . Barbashev couldn't even see the puck.
That’s the 2nd time in the playoffs Vegas has had a good goal disallowed…I wonder if it’s NHL politics…smh
the forward speared the goalie and pushed him in
I also saw it as a goal, but i'm from Vegas so I could be bias😊……i have a question about the first goal scored by Brett Howden….do you think there was a there for interference as he was being held on the way to the puck….as well as maybe a slash?
More I watch it, the more I disagree. Not a goal, 100% interference. Barbashevs stick hits Anderson's glove first, and flexes when he's trying to jam the puck in.
Still challenge it. You never know, it may end up being a goal, but the momentum was all Carolina at this point. You've already stolen one in their barn, you've watched their PP kill their momentum multiple times in this series and in this game. Your PK has been good, you 100% take the chance to swing the score or momentum the other way.
Loose puck, it's a goal. Typically NHL Fck up agreed 🍻
If that’s not a goal then it’s never a goal and the rules change and now hockey isn’t as fun. Watching that full speed it’s pretty freaking obvious.
Im in carolina. We'll take it. I cant believe we are the villains in this whole thing. Refs be refing.
The puck was actually over the line before the whistle. Brutal call.
I can see why you guys aren’t popular 😂
Completely unbiased viewer here. Couldn't care less who wins or loses. TWO egregious mistakes made, IMHO. Terrible call by the referee on the ice waving it off. Terrible video officiating. Unless the whistle was perfectly clear, that was a goal.
Anderson covered the puck and Vegas push his glove with his stick, its plainly obvious if you actually watch the replay. Interference was the right call.
you'll be okay vegas. vegas odds are for ya. blah blah blah. vegas doesn't even deserve to be a team let alone exist. I wish they'd evacuate that city and nuke it. now ya have the raiders and gonna have the A's. disgusting. And I'm not even a Canes fan
you really wanna go into who deserves what? 39 wins this season? 17 otl points?! Vegas didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs. So F off with this one goal. BS. Vegas deserves nothing
It would have been goaltender interference with Dorofyev's jamming his stick underneath the goalie pushing it in, not Barbashev's. That's what knocked it in. Looked at it multiple times and that was IMO what knocked it in. So it would have been called back either way.
Whether the puck is loose or not it isn't a point of debate. It was loose. However, the ref ruled that the Vegas player's stick made contact with Anderson's glove while he was trying to cover the puck, impeding his ability to freeze it. That is why the puck was loose. You can clearly see on the overhead that is exactly what happened.
I think the puck was under Anderson and the ref was blowing the whistle. It’s just one of those plays but are we going to ask goalies to hold the puck for a full second? Bad challenge
Andersen just has to play better. Game 1 was 2-0 CAR and became 3-2 before you could sneeze, and on this play he almost let the initial routine shot in which caused him to have to scramble. Is he letting in bad goals? No — but he's also not making any of the big saves he needs to make and he's getting outplayed by Carter Hart.
How could you possibly call that no goal if you are the ref . Hes literally right there watching the puck go in the net
So, is it okay to push a puck out of the Freddy's glove that is under him. You can see that Freddy put it in his glove before he lay on it. Did you even see how Vegas's player jammed his stitch under Freddy to push it out. And if you doubt it is in his glove… how would you know… you can't see the puck. You guys are bias… I can't watch this anymore.
The World knows that Vegas was screwed.
The calls have been unhinged these playoffs…
Gotta love NHL refs
Add in Cole smith icing fucked it up too, he beat the d man and was behind it. Scored 4-4 by ghost… good thing they won 5-4 by hertl
Ref made a bad call! Moving on!
We are over it, Vegas is going to win! 💛🖤
Tortorella's ego got the best of him and he made a colossal mistake. The whistle went before the puck went in. No goal. Period. Also, f*&k Vegas.
The D man kicks it in the net
What on earth are you all watching?
I normally side with let them play.
Anderson saw puck, and put glove on it. Yes/no?
He skewers Anderson, twice.Yes/no?
Then uses his stick as a can opener (you can see it go buwang after) to LIFT ANDERSONS ARM…. Yes/no?
You know, THE ARM PUSHING DOWN on the puck.
How on earth are any of those 3 things NOT goalie interference to get a goal to happen?
49 pitch forked it in. I say good goal.
They tried to rig game 1 also with that bogus icing call that lead to an O face off and goal for Canes, On game 2 bogus non existent goalie Interferance and bogus penalty call in OT. I wonder what the ref is going to rig in game 3
look at the stick flex. That was not stick on puck.
Commenting so i can come back to this when Carolina wins the Cup. Canes in 5
The referees got it exactly right. Carolina's goalie (Andersen) pulled the puck in and under his body, covering it. The Vegas player continued to use his stick to attempt to dislodge the puck, which is clear goalie interference. And even without that infraction, play was over the moment the puck was covered by Andersen's body.
Challenging the call was just dumb. The call on the ice was very likely to be upheld, giving the Canes a two minute power play. The Vegas coach was betting that the Canes would fail to capitalize. He lost that bet real quick.
I agree the NHL made a bad call, but I think Torts' challenge was also bad, as there didn't seem to be any "undisputable" evidence to overturn the call. However, what about those puck sensors the NHL was bragging about? There has to be some valuable data collected by the puck in a time like this, no?
There’s no point of challenging in sports anymore because there has to be evidence. You can clearly see there’s no goalie interference and the puck is loose. You cannot tell me the nhl isn’t just trying to save face every league does this and in the biggest moments too.
glad to hear from all you cry baby vegas fans, you act like you're the only team that's "possibly" had a call go against them…quit F crying, waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
go knights go!!!!
Ref was looking at the wrong spot.
Do you see that blue semi-circle in front of the net called the Goal Crease where the Goalie stands all game? That's the Goalie's "turf" and it explains the essence of the rule. You can't dive into the Goalie, especially when he is in his Goal Crease, with your stick, face, arm, or body in order to knock the puck into the Goal. The Goalie is not a Quarterback, whom you can "sack" in order to cause of "fumble," he is the only defenseless player on the ice that stands there looking for a little puck, praying no maniac annihilates him while he is squatting.
Go ahead and call that a goal. See how many players pitch fork the goalies trying to dig one out for the rest of the playoffs.
And by the way, how the hell can a puck that's under the goalie be a loose puck?
So they think it's a goal but agree at 6:05 the puck wouldn't have moved under Anderson's bulk.
Goalie interference.
100% right call
Y A W N !!!!
It was a goal.
