The defense is decimated. The pairings are scrambled. They've got 3rd pairing guys logging well over 20 minutes a game. This looks more like Belleville than Ottawa. As for the goaltending, Staios made the HUGE mistake of thinking Merilainen would be a solid backup for Ully especially after a disastrous pre-season. Reimer or other should have been there from the outset with Merilainen groomed to start this year at Belleville and possibly next season in Ottawa. And then Ully's problems became intrusive and Merilainen was in way over his head. If you've ever suffered from anxiety or depression you know every day can be a crapshoot. Imagine trying to play goal in the NHL dealing with that. He may be trying to grind through his problems but only he knows what is truly happening.
Bad news for the Sens: They lost a crucial game. Good news for the Sens: Pretty much everybody else they're fighting for a playoff spot also lost their game.
I'm sorry but your getting paid tens of millions and your bitching and moaning about mental health issues…. Like pour you go cry me a river. They all just use this as an excuse to get free paid time off.
Ullmark needed a break, he wasn't available. Next game in, he looked very sluggish. Maybe he was ACTUALLY under the weather. It very well could be that he tried to tough it out, and we're seeing the results of that effort. As an Isles fan, we need all the help we can get right now. So thanks i guess? But nobody wants to see a guy shelled like that. His teammates really let him down
You're wrong, the first goal was completely on Ullmark, not a 'misplay' from a player. Ullmark fakes Spence out into thinking he is going to tap the puck behind the net, so Spence let's up, and once Spence lets up, Ullmark inexplicably lets the puck go in front of the net.
sure you would want the tendy to save some but the problem is how did they get the opportunity to even shoot? we gotta remember there is three forwards and two defensemen in front who need to do their jobs. goalie can only do so much
How is ullmark the only story every night? Brady has been a shell of his former self. Sens have a huge list of injuries. The story should be: despite all of this, the team, helped hugely by Ullmark are still in a playoff spot and have had one of the best records in the league since he came back
Hey Eck, can you please Cover of what took Place in the DEL Playoffs (EHC München vs ERC Ingolstadt) on Tuesday… it’s smtg NHL have(but never will) to learn from
God, I feel bad for him. I am a Bruins fan, and I was really a fan of his during his (and the Bruin's) best season by far. But now, he's considered to be on the lower end of goalies and has mental health problems… damn, how things change.
What a blowout that game was! I’m not buying the mental health thing though. Ullmark gets paid multimillions just to play a kid’s game. Has thousands of fans. Doesn’t live in a war torn country, doesn’t have to fight to survive day to day, doesn’t have to worry about shelter or food. So what mental health issues does he have? Being too rich? Give me a break.
This Sens season has been as dramatic as the LOTR trilogy. So many ups and downs, huge wins, crushing losses, strong momentum, crazy injury luck, etc… It's been one of the wildest seasons I can ever remember. And I've been a Sens fan since 92.
On Apr. 2, the Sens beat the division leading Buffalo Sabres, 4-1, and Ullmark was the 3rd star of the game. Ottawa can still get the final playoff spot in the East if they stay focused.
I'm all for taking care of mental health but as a PROFESSIONAL athlete the job is to take the flack your team gets after a bad game because all of you guys are literally getting paid millions of dollars to perform at your absolute peak.
Now, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, so he absolutely needs to learn to tune those out or maybe just demand a trade to a market with a less intense hockey media culture.
There may also be more than criticism going on that's affecting him (personal struggles, team dynamics, etc.) but we shouldn't speculate. I'll just say his D left him out to dry and he just couldn't be Superman that game and that's okay, but the media and we as fans need to recognize one man doesn't make or break a team's performance.
Most teams rotate their goalies to keep them fresh. You need a backup who can actually hold the fort, but for the Sens, Ullmark doesn't have anyone he can really lean on. On top of that, their defensive system is a total mess. A goalie can only do so much..if the defense collapses in front of him, there's a limit to what he can stop

Goalie here. If he's suffering from the yips, that first play was the worst thing that could happen for his confidence. Hope he can get help.
He had that same problem in Buffalo. Guy can play lights out. Unfortunately he is also good at laying down absolute stinkers.
Ya it was the goalie. Lol whole team was fucking non existent
Don't use God's name in vain 👎🏻
Mental health issues? It's hockey not nuclear physics.

Had to go to work a hour that loss. I was bummed all night. They keep pissing away chances
As a bruins fan…..I want him back in Boston
Try being a Sens fan. It's rough

I wish I could get paid 10 million a year and take time off for how sad I am😂😂😂😂
My thoughts are that thankfully everyone else lost last night
Just another Canadian team that sucks a big bag of crap.

you never know with eck, are you gonna get a bad video quality or bad sound quality
As a Buffalo fan I'm glad to see him shitting the bed
all the actually good teams play their backup like 10-20 games a season at least.
The organization is just trash overall if they don’t have a backup they can win with
And now his captain on his own podcast has his dad making fun of him. Another truly Melnyk era level PR nightmare rn in Ottawa

This channel loves the dramatic video titles
all those were bad defense
Here come the Sabres to put the nail in the coffin and break the drought for themselves. 🦬 ⚔️

Not for nothing but Florida was working the puck side to side with no effort. Ottawa as a team looks gassed.

I maintain that Swayman helped keep Ulmark together throughout difficult seasons and now he doesnt have his go to anymore.

As a Bruins fan, it breaks my heart to see Linus in this state…
Lee-nus? 😅
Anaheim is the only roster of players/coach I would rather see this failure happen to.
Sorry, nobody on the Sens roster showed up that night. Zero reason to dump on Ullmark.
15 shots in 1st isn't a goalies fault
Q. Was it harder to watch than your CRAPPY Rangers???????

Ullmark is a great goalie and a better guy. He was a great player for my Bruins and we appreciate what he did for us. I hope for better days for him.
Hey it could be worse im a leafs fan😭

the team abandoned him
You gonna make an update to this video after that nasty goal by Stuzle last night?
