If the Wings prospect pool had any elite talent, they would be on the roster already trying for a playoff push. JMHO Yes there is talented players before I get killed. Elite to me is ready now not possibly with enough progress. Prospect could be a second line player, which this team has way too many of mids and no elite. We either haven't been lucky enough or to focused on a certain type of player. Cheers bois!
I've been alive for 75 of the Wings' 100 years. I remember when Gary Bergman was the best defenseman. And when Nick Libett was the captain. (Who? Exactly.) I lived and suffered through the Dead Wings era. Darkness with Harkness. The failures of the early 90s, a painful preamble to greatness.
Yet nothing hurts like the present. Why? Because unlike previous teams that gave it their all and failed due to lack of talent, this team is disconnected from the blue-collar energy and sweat of its fans. It lacks drive, determination. Grit.
And that is sad because I wanted to believe in this team. And I cannot, because they don't believe enough in this city and what it stands for to believe in themselves.
So why did they extend Chairot, and JBD?? The blue line prospects must not be good at all.
Hail to the Victors!
Wings, you won't, but just win.
Keep hearing about these kids yet wher r they , other teams kids r up and playing and making thier mark and most them r picked after the Wings prospects were picked 😳
We Bawl
Bottom line – the Wings have the best third-fourth line players. Including (almost) the first and second line.
4:56 MID!
Why not 1st – they’ve had long enough.
My biggest gripe with Yzerman is that he overvalues the guys he's drafted. I'd have no problem if they packaged any of these guys: Danielson, Kasper, MBN, ASP, Cossa, Shine, Leonard, Mazur, Finnie – combine them with Larkin or Edvinsson (or both) and, if somebody has their eye on them, TRADE THEM for someone we need!
Ok here’s what I think the line up will look like over the next couple of years.
Debrincat? ? Raymond
Bear Kasper MBN
Finnie Plante/Danielson Genborg
Mazur Plante/Danielson Lombardi
Edvinsson Seider
Albert Johansson? ASP
Buiim Anton Johansson
Cossa, Augustine
This lineup has intentionally left out Larkin (I do expect him to be on this team but adding three centers for two different spots just seemed ridiculous.)as he will be exiting his prime and I do not know where he will be placed im going to guess probably three C and be like Jordan Staal on Carolina. I’m also unsure about where Debrincat will be, as he will also be exiting his prime. So we may have to do some trading for Top line, I do not know of anyone for the Wing but I’d love to see if we could get Jack Hughes from the Devils as they may be sliding over these next couple of years, I honestly have zero clue the intentions of the new GM. I also have a Question mark next to Albert Johannson as I do not know if he will be able to perform at the second line. Hoping this year is a sophomore slump like Kaspers been having and that his play picks up. I do expect us to trade either Danielson or Plante away I just don’t know which one.
Not if the philosophy is to not get North American power forwards that can fight if need be so the wings don’t get wiped out every March. So far all I see is more Europeans that may play gritty but can’t drop the gloves and a GM that is hard headed when it comes to having a sheriff on the team that can run cover for the scorers kind of like he had.
It’s not rocket science wings LOSE EVERY MARCH when the games get physical and tge wings are in the bottom in checks and fights so what’s that tell ya Stevie stubborn as an old mule.
So the wings might be good in 5 years? Hooray
I don't see it. Soft is soft.
Even if you would package Detroits top 10 prospects for a player like Celebrini, Demidov etc. they would say no to that. Getting game breaking talent is almost impossible outside the top of the draft and you still need to be lucky to bottom out in the right years. A bunch of potential middle six forwards, bottom pairing defenseman and goalies are not going to make you a cup contender.
Wheeler’s only criteria was how many left wingers each team has in their minor league system.
Great, we have a bunch of future journeymen.
Put ASP on the he can skate has really got a good shot and I think he's too small to be a defenseman
Good news—now we just have to tell the players🤭
Better do it today, then five wins and everything will be fine 😏
Surprising Plante wasn’t mentioned considering the year he had?
Hey good news, hope is one the way! 😂
Traded Dmitri Buchelnikov for Faulk…Faulk! I could beat Yzerman in NHL fantasy.
The timing of this episode couldn't be worse.
No offense
Like the Paradox Destroyer I've followed this franchise going back to the last years of the Howe era.
The last thing fans need to hear as they watch their team crumble is how great the minor Leaguers are.
Where is the ❤?
Honestly (not) trading for a C at deadline wasnt what i was upset about at all. Because they where not available and those who where really wasnt, like Yzerman said in the presser, those teams (like St Louis with Thomas or Rangers with Trocheck) where comfortable hanging on to them if they didn't get like a kings ransom for them, which was reported up to 5(!!!) first round picks or equal. Hell no.
The problem i had was the trades we made that where going after mid to late 30s guys in Faulk and Perron, which ended up not only we gave up really intriguing young players like Söderblom & Buchelnikov, but it also roster wise ended up young guys gor forced off the roster to make space for more dead weight that best case scenario is marginal upgrades, does not move the needle at all. I get the Faulk trade (al though I much rather have gone after Ristolainen who plays a more physical game, simular to Zadorov) but the Perron was the worst, which ended up costing us Söderblom who would be heckuva lot more valueble then a month of Perron just stumble around on the ice and taking dumb penaltys… I was really upset at the time we flipped Söderblom for simply a 3rd, which we did simply because we needed one in the Faulk trade, since we gave up our own in Perron trade to Ottawa, that now ironically seem to flourish without him and taken our playoff spot…
Brian, retire and go be a play by play guy. Scotty, go handle baseball only buddy.
