I love ya Meghan but it didn't have a playoff feel at all. It had the feel of 1 team playing for their playoff lives after a day off-sure. But the other team playing a back to back after winning their most important reg season game all year & had an understandable let down/inconsistent focus-which happens but still is disappointing no doubt. Especially to not even get 1 point that close to OT. But in the grand scheme it just means the AVS have to win 1 of their last 6 games to clinch 1st in the West,& 2 of 6 to clinch Prez trophy-(& that's if Dallas,Carolina or Tampa were to go undefeated)-its not a big deal at all. But I don't expect or want coach to say that publicly or even think it. Nor do I want players thinking this or admitting it publicly.Coach should react differently than us fans-& he did.
But we can be more pragmatic, understanding & realistic about it than he can as the head coach. Tonight helped keep the Blues in the race,& was a FAR more important game for Sea,WPG,LA,SJ,& Nashville than it was for Colorado. It was nothing like a playoff game cuz almost all the motivation was on 1 side although certainly the AVS would've preferred to clinch tonight. But it's just not the same when you mentally know you need 2 points (or 4 for Prez trophy) in 7 games to clinch than if you are playing for your playoff lives. AVS were desperate yesterday,& I expect we will get a much more locked in,& focused Avs Tuesday. Not like the effort was poor or they didn't care. But you could tell which team wanted to win & which team HAD TO WIN OR ELSE And St L was sitting,& watching as a quasi playoff intensity war was being played in Dallas yesterday.
But similar to 2022 after the Avs clinched the West (lost like 6 of their last 7 or something)-you are gonna get some more uneven performances. AVS will be playing teams like St Louis,Vegas, Edmonton & Seattle.(also Calgary twice) All those teams need points to lock up the playoffs,& are either battling for the Pacific division 1 seed (Edmonton & Vegas)-or battling for their lives & will probably still miss the playoffs. (ST Louis,& Seattle). We all wish it didn't happen (& those teams battling for the 8 seed REALLY wish we were more locked in-lol). But they aren't robots,& this isn't a video game. The motivation & focus just isn't gonna be fully the same cuz it isn't remotely the same. AVS will do enough to clinch & have their locked in moments to get ready for the playoffs. But you can't honestly expect them to be as desperate full time as the teams they are playing until game 1.
Just like happened in 2022,& some of you freaked out,& some of us like me told you to "RELAX-THEY ARE GONNA BE JUST FINE!" But you want your coach to nitpick it,& not let them get too comfortable or fall into bad habits. His tone was right tonight but you can't make too big of deal out of it as a fan cuz big picture it's no big deal at all. Bednar can't say it but the most important thing BY FAR til game 1 is nobody gets hurt. After that experiment with some things,& get the West locked up if not Tues then certainly by Thurs vs Calgary at latest. Prez trophy will happen & that's fine. (there is no "Prez trophy jinx"-1 seeds win more Cups,& make more Finals-than any other seed-but there are more upsets in hockey than say basketball cuz of the characteristics,& differences of the sports). But I really only care bout the West 1 seed.
Colorado teams never change. Play up to good team’s and play down to average teams, sad. The 41 year old and mackinnon of course were hardest working people out there hahaha
He will talk the mistakes on the team side, but not the refs so much… because despite the massive disparity in what was allowed with trips and holds that just gets refs punishing you .
I have NEVER heard ref you suck chants for hockey like last night.
This one was not on Blackwood, its hard to win games when its always 3 on 1 or 2 on 1 against you, Hopefully Aves tighten up during playoffs, bad time to start cooling down after a great season.

Thanks Mackenzie….
When Necas ends up playing defense on a 2 on1, something went wrong.

I remember when “stay at home defensemen” was a thing. These guys tend to skate around like headless chickens.
Big defensive let downs ! The refereeing was abominable but it didnt matter
Nichushkin getting ready to ditch us in the playoffs again this year…
They still won't fire bednar after we get knocked out of playoffs again
FIRE BEDNAR!!
