The San Diego Gulls delivered a dominant performance on home ice Wednesday night, shutting out the Tucson Roadrunners 3-0 at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Tyson Hinds opened the scoring early in the first period, finishing off a setup from Cal Burke and Tristan Luneau to give San Diego a 1-0 lead just under six minutes in. The Gulls controlled the pace throughout the opening frame, outshooting Tucson 10-8 and maintaining pressure despite both teams coming up empty on the power play.
San Diego pulled away in the third period, beginning with Jan Myšák’s insurance marker just 2:32 into the frame off a feed from Nico Myatovic. With Tucson pushing late, Myatovic sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute. Goaltender Calle Clang was stellar between the pipes, stopping all 27 shots he faced to earn the shutout and first-star honors. The victory keeps the Gulls firmly in the playoff race as they continue their push down the stretch.
