Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill break down a wild one in Los Angeles, where the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped a chaotic 7–6 overtime decision to the Los Angeles Kings. Off the ice, the coaching and front office carousel continues to spin. The New York Islanders scooped up Peter DeBoer—a name heavily linked to Toronto all season—while Elliotte Friedman connected Sunny Mehta to the Leafs’ growing list of GM candidates. Meanwhile, Friedman added that the timing doesn’t appear right between Toronto and Doug Armstrong.
Plus, Craig Button stops by to weigh in on the Leafs’ late-season outlook, the front office search, and everything in between.

Honestly guys, if a new GM comes in and keeps Berube just to have that "extra year cushion" for his own job….. you already know you hired the WRONG GUY
Deboers never done anything
Could you imagine if the Leaf's some how had Albert Smits fall upon their lap? A generational defenseman who can shoot like Dion Phaneuf, hit like Tim Horton and skate like Morgan Rielly, all before the age of 18 years old. That just doesn't happen to this franchise, yet we are only a few points away from it. If they decide to lose their last five games. I am hearing both Willy and JT just caught COVID. I hope you both get better around April 17th.
I hear Jim Benning would make a great GM, imagine that Gillis, Chiarelli, and Benning the 3 stooges of hockey
Willy is great when he wants to be. Lazy as fuck as well.
Armstrong's best days have long gone.
I really believe Treliving was told he cannot fire Berube. Why else would he not be fired after tanking to near the bottom of the standings? Who had the longer contract? Treliving or Berube? Reportedly MLSE has been penny pinching and I believe MLSE probably didn’t like the idea of paying another coach for another two years. Typical gong show mismanagement in Toronto and this reeks of typical Toronto dysfunctional leadership. And stop with the “keeping the pick” for the love of god. Finishing low is just asking for a high Boston pick. The only way Toronto was guaranteed to keep that pick was to finish bottom 3. Treliving should have been fired as soon as that trade was announced and I hated it. Stop giving away future firsts on secondary players. The dumbest trade you can make in the NHL. This was because Shanahan wanted to keep his job. You put short term thinking in place you think you are building a winning franchise. As I said. Typical Toronto mismanagement nonsense. Toronto mismanagement and no one else is to blame for this situation. They constructed the roster and traded away all of the assets for a bottom 5 team that has a great chance of not keeping a high pick. Totally outrageous incompetence and mismanagement. Toronto could have had second line center in Marner too but it’s irrelevant when you can’t draft or trade assets properly because of incompetence in management. I see all the media and fans attacking players for this roster for some reason. The players didn’t construct this failure. The Shanaplan was ultimately a failure because it was 30% of a plan. You tanked for a few years and then what? Did you keep drafting talent? No. Did you get good management in place? No. Did you make good trades? Hell no. Nobody builds a cup winner with 3 forwards and an older free agency signing. Toronto should have kept drafting but instead they wasted the massive talent they had by never drafting a single capable defender in the following 9 seasons. No secondary talent until the Knies draft. The Shanaplan had a good starting point and zero followup. Total mismanagement. Rookie GM/coach for seasons on end.
IBS arena, I love it!
Patrick Roy's contract was up the end of the season. He was not extended before the season. it was actually a smart move to grab a coach instead of waiting until the end of the season.
They Leafs need a fall guy like Berube for next season if it goes sideways again. The players need to also know they are part of the problem. Maybe you tank again next year and you could have players with no moves wanting out and waving their no moves. Get the retool fast tracked with Mathews who has checked out and could walk. This is only if you can get a huge return.
The Panthers winning the lottery would be …. Something 😂
Honest question – is where the Leafs FINISH (bottom 5) or where they Land in the Lottery? Say they finish 7th (for example) but the lottery puts them in 4th.. would this be the Leafs or Bruins pick?
Nick is the master of talking for too long. Makes a good point and instead of letting the convo flow changes topics or throws 5 more ideas out there.
Can they finish 6th but end up moving into bottom five with the draft lottery?
The Florida Media aren't crucifying the Panthers about their pathetic season. Many teams had off seasons, they're Media aren't calling for rebuilds etc. Leaf Media are all secret Trolls. I've had access to PS seats for past 22 yrs. Jarnkrok, Reilly, Robertson and Machelli definitely have a to go. CB tends to change his tune frequently.
