The Kane penalty was absolutely dumb af, but why is everyone saying "this could cost them the season"? If one dumb penalty is the cause of missing the playoffs, you shouldn't be in the conversation to begin with imo. They set themselves up for failure with their shit play when games matter most, THAT'S what is costing them the season, not one dumb play by Kane.
Wings ranked 30th 5-on-5 play do you really think they should make the post season. Team speed & physicality should be a priority this off-season, that will mean changes in personnel especially in the forward positions. Perron and Faulk acquisitions did very little to help bolster this group.

I grew up watching Gordie at Olympia (I'm that old). And I feel like, once again, we're suffering through a 'Dead Things' period, like in the '70s. The team is consistently, disappointingly, inexplicably terrible. StevieY dragged the team out of those disastrous series of seasons. But now – nothing. ARG!!!
Detroiter here. We have only middling talent. Mediocre prospects. Terrible scouting. Yzerman SUCKS as a GM here. Not getting Hughes is gonna haunt us for years. Blow it all up!

The Yzerplan isn't working, for YEARS they don't have the offense, and every year they just crumble under pressure. Oh yeah, then there was Larkin blaming Yzerman last year for not giving away our draft picks so we could slot in an 8th seed an get bounced out in the first round. It's not just one thing or one guy with the Red Wings, it's become a toxic culture of choking and blaming.
