The Chicago Blackhawks picked up a win over the Seattle Kraken, and while it might not be ideal for draft positioning, there is no denying how exciting this game was for the future of the team.
Because this one was all about the young core and key milestones.
Let’s start with Connor Bedard, who continues to produce at an elite level. Bedard recorded two assists, bringing his season total to 70 and 71 points. Even in a season where the team has struggled, he has consistently been the driving force offensively.
That level of production at his age is not normal.
It reinforces exactly why he is the centerpiece of this rebuild and why everything moving forward is being built around him.
Then there is Tyler Bertuzzi, who just keeps finding the back of the net. Bertuzzi has now reached 32 goals on the season, setting a new career high and continuing to prove that he is one of the most underrated goal scorers in the league.
His ability to score in tight areas, play physically, and consistently contribute makes him a key piece alongside the younger players developing around him.
And then came one of the biggest moments of the night.
Sacha Boisvert scored his first NHL goal, marking a major milestone in his young career. There is nothing quite like that first goal, and for Boisvert, it is the beginning of what the Blackhawks hope will be a long and impactful run at the NHL level.
It is another example of the future arriving in real time.
At the same time, there is still that bigger picture conversation.
With the Blackhawks officially eliminated from playoff contention, wins like this do impact draft lottery positioning. From a long-term perspective, losses would improve those odds. But moments like this also matter. Development matters. Confidence matters. Seeing young players succeed matters.
That is the balance.
You want the best possible draft position, but you also want your future core building chemistry and gaining experience through success.
And this game delivered exactly that.
Bedard continuing to dominate. Bertuzzi producing at a career-best level. Boisvert scoring his first NHL goal. And a team that, even in a rebuild, is starting to show signs of what it can become.
The standings may say one thing.
But the future says something very different.
What was your favorite moment from the game? And are you still rooting for the tank, or do you want to see more wins like this?
