anyone else remember about 10 years ago when 3 Carolina players went at the leafs captain at the time Dion Phaneuf ? Same thing happened, no one came to help and it was embarrassing to the team, the players and the fans. What ever is going on in that room needs to be addressed and dealt with this off season, no more BS
Matthews has never come to the defense of a teammate. He glides away from every scrum he's been on the ice for. Would you defend a player who's never had your back. Matthews should be forced to remove the tattoo on his arm. Or have it redone and change the lion to a bunny
They traded away guys and let them also walk . That could have and would have brought grit and integrity to the locker room. You don’t let a player like Hyman just walk away !! You don’t trade a young player for making some bad plays like Kadri !! That’s just 2 players . This company / franchise needs to fire from the top of the food chain ..

As a non fan, but also not a hater either. My assessment is and this is according to the culture of the Leafs as an organization on the whole it is in the late stage of the MOST corporate business environment any team could reach.
What that means is partly the layers of the business structure i.e who's running it really is is MLSE is it Brendan Shanahan or was it Brad Treliving, Kyle Dubas, ect. The Leafs always remind me of the Dallas Cowboys not based on failure in playoffs but the corporate culture comes in and it's less of a team – your proscouts, your amateur scouts, coaches, GM – i.e. ability to ones job without interference= less overall confusion.
The second part which is much like the Oilers – you let Bobby McCann go, you had Tyler Bertuzzi, Zach Hyman, now talk of Knies possibly being out the door – again it's that corporate culture of man to man connection, or connection to the community or the fans (ironically corporate people in suits) – eventually every business environment emulates or resembles the people in that environment – in this case emotionless players (Nylander, Matthews Tavares) vs heart and soul,speak your mind type.
Leafs problems started when they were saying Mathews was better than mcdavid. Making Auston Captain was a mistake. Trading marner who was their best playmaker was a mistake. Now leafs have no identity.
The biggest joke was hearing that in the “revenge” game, there was supposedly talk within the leafs players whether they should try scrapping with Gudas everytime he tskes a shift which id sn absolute joke that these couch cushions think that everything is okay now that Gudas played hurt and stood there taking a few shots…. Leafs are an absolute joke, but they are their Captains team

I said from the end of last season, keep Marner and send Matthew’s packing. They made the wrong choice.
