We have had some surprises and we can look forward to more rookies coming up, but we list a #1 on a trade that didn’t make enough of a difference. I also question if this team can respond to the intensity of Roy as coach. Or maybe we should just clean house and start over. I suspect the Penguins were bolstered by their farm system as they took a big leap from last year and the Isles need to continue to build theirs.
This season’s success was a pleasant surprise. Too bad they’re choking it away now. Where is the so called LEADERSHIP? Philly playing a back to back made Isles look old and tired.
That was some very uninspired hockey right there, wasn't even fun to watch, no passion what so ever. I should have gone to the local rink to find a beer league game.
I dont think the NY Islander players want to make the playoffs this year, I think they're tired and not dialed in. They just want the season to end so they can enjoy the summer with their families, wives and girlfriends
Several weeks ago, when some of the contributors on this channel said the Islanders wouldn't make the playoffs, I thought they were crazy. Now, I'm not so sure. One thing I've been consistent about is saying Roy isn't a good coach who doesn't get the most out of this team, and it's true. I think Roy will be fired unless they make the playoffs and somehow go on a run.
Never seen that team fighting for playoffs in front of home crowd have one "ONE"shot on gol in period…. Now you don't have to fight any more… CONGRATULATION
I think it was two seasons ago that the Islanders literally lost their way into the playoffs. If that happens again this year, I would prefer for them to play golf rather than be sacrificial lambs in the first round
Clutterbuck who had played a long time as you know and I played a long time for the Islanders gosh about Lee as captain on more than one occasion most recently a little bit yesterday in the pregame show and like I said Trotz said he wasn't looking in the name a captain when he first got there but it was obvious that Lee was the great or perfect for that role. It's coaching.
They very unfortunately can't give a full games effort consistently especially the word consistently they proved that through almost 82 games. And actually forget consistently it's been pretty rare.
I am sorry Patrick Roy simply is not motivating or preparing the team. Darche made a old and slow team older and slower with his acquisitions. The veterans players don't show up. Last point since return of Olympic break the islanders have shown they can't play against teams with speed

Playoff hopes are fading. The team needs to shed some dead wood in the offseason. I am not sure keeping Roy is the right thing.

Schaefer is amazing as we all know and how as he's been all year the team can learn a lot from his effort and for someone with that much talent to have that effort every night every day and the coaches should raise their standards to match that everyone controls their effort they may not have his talent but there's nothing stopping them from putting forth that effort and having that standard in the coach has no standard towards the end of an 82 game season when everyone's tired they know their coach isn't going to hold them accountable and they can just freaking slack as he said multiple times it's OK if you don't have it for a full 60 that doesn't mean that you're gonna lose the game yeah again but that should be the rare exception and as you know and as was sad and is kind of a cliché you can't win a game in the first 15 minutes but you can lose one he's completely cool with them taking whole periods or 10 or 15 minutes of a period off you can give up 2 to 4 or 5 goals, if you play poorly enough, in that time putting the game out of reach or not allowing you to make comebacks all the time and if you get to the playoffs you're gonna be freaking exhausted playing like that all year instead of playing the right way. And Sorokin playing 10 in a row is absurd I didn't agree with you with when it was 4 in a row thought he should be able to do that but 10 in a row last year was 15 in a row I completely agree with you that's absurd and last year I know Hogberg's production went to shit but that was after the injury and initially after Sorokins's 15 games because he didn't trust Hogberg but when he did put him in he played exceptionally but either way Rittich or Tikkanen I need to be given a chance. I know obviously Rittich played so this wouldn't be his "" chance but either way Sorokin needs a freaking break and if we make the playoffs he'll have nothing if he doesn't get a break I would go with Rittich and I know I wish he had been playing better but I think his last start was OK or good and if he doesn't play well I would give Tikkanen in one game and if he doesn't play well then that's it and if he does he's an option for another one or two and then Sorokin's ready to roll again and if we make a playoffs he's got energy left.
