They'll win two round maybe but not contender…not yet
I believe there’s only 4 real Stanley cup contenders every year, your best two from the west, and your best 2 from the east, who ever you think that is I think are the ones that has a real shot, now that’s not to say there’s not teams that are right there with them, but I think there’s 4 off the bat that you say those are the cup contenders, for me that’s Colorado and Dallas in the west, it’s a shame that they will have to play each other in the second round because of the dumb system the playoffs have but one of those two would be my cup contenders, your outside chance guys would be Edmonton, they obviously have proved when the time comes they can get there, in the east it’s a lot more complicated, your obvious answer is Carolina, then I think the answer has to be Tampa, as much as I like Montreal and there game, the X factor for me would be vasi, if he’s on and playing the way he can there’s a aura about him in the net I only felt when playing against Carey price , just seems so confident and un beatable, I know dobes had been solid as of late and I’m happy for Habs fans they have got a guy that likely makes them confident going into the playofffs, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they played Tampa and beat them but if I had to pick I would pick Tampa Carolina Colorado Dallas a cup contenders, I’d have Edmonton, Montreal , as outside shot, and then the rest kind of in a pool of there own some teams better then others but I don’t see them winning the cup
I can't see the Habs contending for the cup this year, too young and inexperienced. In two years anything is possible. Dobes has played well lately but his rebound control will leave him vulnerable in a seven games series. Just the fact that Button has said yes to possibility leaves me to be sure it won't happen, 2021 Habs/Leafs prediction 4 games to 0 Leafs, actual outcome 4 games to 3 Habs.
I've been a Habs fan since 85 when my father coerced me into. I have had few regrets despite dark bad stretches that's just sports plus it makes the good times all the sweeter. I'm not sure they are contenders yet but they're damn close if they're not. A nother year of experience under their belt plus Michael Hage next year and it's clear to see that we are still on an upward trajectory. I will add that had we not given Montembault so many chances to get it together (and I think they were right to) we would possibly be first overall.

The Habs aren’t a finished product. That said, it’s entirely possible they can go on a cup run if they get stellar goaltending. Their clutch quick strike offence combined with a 1986 Roy-esque goalie performance is the recipe for cup run.
Habs fan here and this is all I’m gonna say I will be happy if we win a round maybe 2 rounds at best but I’m not expecting a Stanley cup this year
Before this good stretch Button was saying the Habs are not a contender because their defence was weak. Now he's on the Hab's bandwagon.
What I see when the Habs are in the opposing zone is constant movement, changing form, switching sides — it's hell for the defence. That kind of play takes vision, and Caufield has plenty of that putting himself in a scoring position, sometimes even slowly to not attract attention. It's one hell of a team and they all look like they're having fun.
As a huge Habs fan, I disagree. Look at the last 2 games won vs Carolina. They were dominated. Against BIG teams, they will get hammered in a long series. Small Dman and not a tough team. They need some toughness to go all the way.
