I'm gonna throw a name out there that should be considered, and I NEVER hear.
Dave Poulin. Great, and calm hockey mind. Old school mentality, but always seems to have a reasonable assessment.
All that said; he's probably smart enough to know better than to try.

Hiring someone with " experience" has done absolutely nothing to help this team over the last 20 years, maybe it's time to switch our way of thinking about everything.

Steve couldn't be further off on Pete Chiarelli! He is EXACTLY what this organization needs as an ASSISTANT GM. Don't get me wrong: I would not let Pete draft ANYONE. I wouldn't even let him sit in the room! Here is the caveat: Pete's sole purpose is signing free agents. Let the president and GM handle the draft, & let Pete handle free agency. Don't forget, he brought in Chara & Savard immediately, which changed team culture right away: EXACTLY what the Leafs need. Then he traded away Kessel, their most talented scorer, because the team felt he was not the right player for the team Chiarelli envisioned. Then he signed Shawn Thornton, another man who transformed the locker room. He also traded a 2nd for Seidenberg and Bartkowski, traded Dennis Weidman for Gregory Campbell and Nathan Horton, traded Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau, and a 4th-round pick for Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew. Later, as the team was starting to take shape, at the deadline for a cup run he acquired Chris Kelly for a 2nd, and traded away future star Blake Wheeler to bring in two way forward Rich Peverley (Vlabik and Stuart were ancillary pieces for cap purposes) Then he acquired Recchi AND a 2nd round pick for Matt Lashoff & Martin Karsums. Ironically it was the interim GM, Jeff Gorton, who spearheaded the organizationally transformative draft where he picked Kessel, Lucic, and Marchand in the 1st 3 rounds. So again, as long as you keep Pete out of draft meetings and let him focus on team culture and free agent signings, he will be fine.

I am greatly affended that I as a Leafs fan is not being considered. I mean, might as well take a chance on me, I cannot make it any worse than it currently is. And I am cheaper than the other options.

Yes, because the past GM's (with all that experience) have done such a stellar job. Get real, hire Pronger, we'd be better off no matter what he does.

I wouldn't get so hung up on getting a former Leaf in the front office. If you are looking for topics for future videos, explaining the roles of the various team management positions would be a good one.

The Blues are the new 2004 Pistons, the team with the completely improbable and threading-several-needles championship run that serves to salve the fanbases of incompetent franchises everywhere that ‘hey, we don’t need to draft a superstar, we can just be plucky and tough and team oriented and kumbaya our way to a ring’ without ever having to rebuild. Which was later replaced by the Raps, add a no doubt 1 and done star after a decade of treadmilling and then count on your opponents to lose 2 of their 3 superstars, that’s the formula!

Not sure if Pat is to blame for the problems in vancouver, but we know he hasn’t been the solution
To the clown shoes wanting Chiarelli: Ryan Strome for Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson, Griffin Reinhart for a first round pick that became Mathew Barzal and a second rounder who ended up with Tampa for a while (eventually becoming Beavillier, but Tampa winning part of that trade by using a third in that deal to pick Cirelli). Also gave Milan Lucic $6 million for 7 years.
