Darche should be fired before Roy, outside of the Dobson Trade he has not done one good thing for this team and has actually hurt us for next year by his awful trades and contract extensions
We cant keep saying “we weren’t supposed to be here guys” whenever we play terribly. Stop hand waving it. We’re good enough to make the play offs, we got here, so we should be judged as a team that can make the playoffs. You guys are so desperate to protect your fragile egos that you can’t admit when the team plays terribly.
Anybody asking for Roy to be fired either knows nothing about hockey or has lost sight of this team. This team had 0 expectations for making playoffs before the season started and he has helped get them to the brink of playoffs with still a good chance of getting in. The people that want him gone are the same ones that said we had no chance of being close to playoffs at the beginning of the year. Roy should be nominated for the Jack Adam’s based on the success he has had with the team this year
Roy wasn’t involved in building this team. They have a chance to be close to 100 point team. Nobody predicted that. Roy isn’t the problem, the players are the problem and that’s on Lou and Darche. Roy deserves criticism for playing guys like Drouin (glad he’s gone), Palat (that contract will hurt us), and Mayfield on a nightly basis.
Case for firing include how inconsistent the effort is, he hired Boughner who has to go but Roy is in charge, he hired the PP coach, that has absolutely killed us again, who has really improved this year aside from Schaefer and Ritchie? The team has no intestinal fortitude and collapses at the first sign of trouble. Lastly, he's not Darche's guy. I can see a case for giving him another year but I would move on.
I have 1 problem with Roy, but it creates a second problem. Roy can't figure out lines and stick with them. This is why the scoring chemistry is lacking. The result is the offense depends too much on the D-men jumping in….A LOT. Before the game against Buffalo, Roy said he is going to keep trying to find combinations that work. It's way too late in the season for the line blender. He should have had it figured out long ago so blending Schenn in would have been easy. He stuck with Drouin way too long and he's still playing Palat. WTF? Makes me wish Engvall would come back.
Why did we lose to Buffalo? Schaefer screwed up on the 3rd goal. Two teammates covering the puck carrier in the corner, and Schaefer is defending the …..what? He never checks the slot. He checks off and that goal never happens.
Islanders powerplay has been bad for 8 + years. There’s not enough youth. It’s not the powerplay coach either. It’s Barzal. He can enter the zone but he lets all the D get in position before making a pass.
What I hold Roy responsible for is the team not showing up against bad West teams. Losing to Calgary, Winnipeg 2X, St Louis almost 2X, Vancouver, Chicago etc. also, the constant shuffling of lines. The long term injuries have really hurt. Romanov has never been replaced and Palmieri was going to be their #2 scorer. So #2 Dman and #2 scorer. Cassidy is available and is a great coach. That’s why you move on from Roy.

How bout the D is just not good enough as it is now when you have 3 #7s playing at least 12 minutes.
I like him as a coach but I seriously can’t take his post game speeches of how the team played good after obviously poor play.
I think Roy is doing the best he can with what Darche has given him to work with. Mayfield, Soucy, Palat, Drouin (formerly). So much dead weight.

Mayfield and Soucy suck don’t see why George isn’t playing yet. I hate the coddling of youngsters.
