This team is young, talented and has a good mix of toughness on the roster as well. If the goaltending can continue to show improvement, they could be good for years to come.

YES A HABS VIDEO! MY BABIES!!!!!! The future is BRIGHT in Montreal! They have done AMAZING NOT really taking first draft picks, some reason those players seem to REALLY excel in Montreal.
GO HABS GO! 🥳🥳
Dobes and Fowler feels like Halak and Price
As a sharks fan I believe there is going to be a San Jose vs Montreal Stanley Cup Final some day
you forgot to mention that we still have reinbacker, zharovski and hage in the pipeline
Suzuki is a lock for the Selke. 100 percent
My son passed away 7 months ago. He took his own life at 19 years old. He was a huge montreal fan. I'm a penguins fan but i hope Montreal wins this year for my sweet boy.
Vegas getting rid of Suzuki after they drafted him,, fast forward to now… they need a 1C-2C to be with Marner instead of playing him on the Center… imagine if Zuk was playing with Marner on his line o.o
As much as i love to hear Suzuki possibly being up for the Selke, I absolutely hate how the award has been bastardized over the years.
The damned trophy was invented for Bob Gainey and is supposed to be for superior defensive forwards that play defense first. It was not supposed to be for offensive players that are responsible defensively.
Serious question: where can I get that hat??
Why does no one talk about how small their core is. How are they expected to win in the playoffs when their best players are all around 5'10.
Great analysis!
Lmao negative, they are too small
When I saw the amount of really good contracts and the absence of horrible ones, it just made me wonder… if only there was some star player that yearns the Cup more than anything and will be available when it all clicks in Montreal, so let's say in 2 years… that would be wild.
Hage will be entering his prime when Suzuki and Caufield and Hutson are peaking… that's crazy to think about
Habs fan here, time for an essay. Ill start by saying its hard to have a video on the habs future without mentioning alex zharovsky. The kids electric and we got him without having any firsts last year i think hes gonna be a lane hutson type draft steal. Next, i agree that monty will probably get moved and hell be a great buy low guy for whoever gets him. Cap wise, by the time we have to pay all of our rookies well have gally, anderson, and laines big contracts off the books so we dont even have to worry about that. And as for kent hughes the discussions about him feel similar to how we talked about price, this guy will forever be loved. And lastly MSL has always been a good coach. When he came in he needed to teach the guys how to have fun again and he did. Now recently him and the team have had expectations and all theyve done is exceed them. This team up and down is special and im thankful every time i get to watch them
Bring Reinbacher up and that blue line is finished for me. Then bring 2 top6 F to 2nd line preferable LW and C to play with demidov
Nice analysis! Allez Allez allez…allez Montreal!
Excellent presentation! Thank you, Shannon. 🥅🏒🌟🌟🌟💥✅
While there is an outside chance they could get the Cup this year it's unlikely. That said this is the beginning of a dynasty not seen since the days of the Oilers in the 80's!
Most of the big players have signed fairly long term team friendly contracts so they have room as well. Dobes is playing like he did early in the season before they made a huge mistake and sat him for two weeks. That was a huge blow to his play and confidence and he's now got it back and then some! Plus with Fowler as the alternative they are going to be amazing! The only thing I haven't liked lately is 6'4" Dobson sitting back after the goalies get run over and watching Hutson stick up for them!
Come on, pour it on!
Go Hab s Go!
Enoy this year…because sadly, this roster is already doomed to be auctioned off…..too much superstar power to stay in Canada, even Montreal. The top 5 guys can each make serious money on marketing deals by playing for a U.S. franchise.
This is the new NHL…and Canada ain't the lead dog no more.
Hello Mr. Guy… Habs fan. No new info here for me, but still good to get this out there. Carrier has struggled this year defensively, not as good as last year. But you are spot on with a lot of this analysis. That said, you didn't cover the very promising prospects: David Reinbacher (RD at Laval), Adam Engstrom (just got called up from Laval to play D for Montreal), Michael Hage (i NCAA tournament now, but will get a cup of coffee in Montreal soon), then others that will likely take longer longer like Owen Protz (will likely play for Laval next season), Bryce Pickford (WHL), and Zharovsky (KHL).
THG, excellent overview of the Canadiens and where they stand. I'm so glad Kent Hughes resisted the urge to make trade deadline deals for older, rent-a-players who won't impact the future of the franchise. Barring serious injuries, they are built to contend for the long haul. As a Habs fan of over 50 years, I must admit that I'm having as much fun watching these guys as I did the 1970's teams when I was a little kid.
What is the status of Patrick Laine's contract?
Shannon, that one free agent that might be interested to join the Habs might only call next year when his fresh new contracts ends. 🙂
I don't like how Jon Cooper coached team Canada at the Olympics. Is St Louis good enough to be Canada's next coach?
Kent did not sign Suzuki, bergie did
Couldn't agree more…..the Habs did it right…..great young team…..great value for such an exciting team…..wish Toronto had done something similar…..imagine what they could have had if Leafs had….
Impressive. Your knowledge of the Habs is incredible. Especially considering your in depth knowledge of all the teams. I follow the Habs religiously and to hit the mark so well, it’s simply impressive. Kuddos
personally feel the Habs will break canada's curse , they've rebuilt right
Correction : The habs is set to dominate for years
Cool so who’s the goalie I’ve never heard of until this year? Montreal doesn’t win until Chicago trades them Adam Gajan lol
Pipeline is also deeeep … Hage, zharovski, Pickford, reinbacher
They’ll be contacts renegotiated for nick/ Caufield out of good standing I believe they’ll bump as they perform this coming year
NHL beware. Hockey's team is BACK!
Man… I would love a Mtl/Bos playoff series
Been too long and that would be amazing hockey for sure…
But…
Go Habs Go !!!
Suzuki’s wonderful contract was not Kent Hugh’s signing, it was from Bergervain
We have a tremendously wise GM. I believe in him, as well as in Gorton. So far I believe there is still more to do on the defence and the coaching (MSL is still young – he’s learning) but there is great hope as long as Kent Hugues shows patience and long term visioning
Caufield was drafted in the 2019 draft
The only thing you missed is that we still have 2 A+ potential prospect with Hage and Zarovski coming tha will fill gaps for our second line
imagine mcdavid going to the habs.
As soon as they stopped playing Monty the team has done so much better. Monty was killing the team. Now gone and away we go. Matheson is not playing up to Habs contract. Dobson is too delicate. Velano is invisible. New better players coming, make room. Go Habs Go
As a Canes fan, I really hope we don't have to play the Habs in round one. They definitely scare me more than anyone else in the east right now
Cap hits are inverse Gallagher. Pay them for what they're probably gonna do so it never looks bad, vs pay his ass for what he's done and everyone hates it.
Gallys done much more than 6.5×6 over his career for this team and he deserves every penny of it. Its payment for services rendered.
The athletic ranked Suzuki’s contract as top 10 worst in the league…..lol….anyone remember that ?
Cole Caufield was 15th in 2019* small correction
Dobson is also leading the league in blocked shots and he’s producing offensively, dude’s a stud.
Caulfield was drafted in 2019, but great video!
Bergevin signed the Suzuki deal btw. But still reaaaaaally good cap management by Hughes 🙂
Montreal, the future is now
I can see McDavid coming to Montreal… Playing with Demidov
