Breaks my heart for Stevie but the Yzerplan at this point makes me want to barf. It's beyond stale. We need some revitalization. It's just not the same anymore and we need something fresh and new to look forward to. IMO we need a Coach Q guy, hybrid coach/GM to turn this organization upside down much like he's done in STL, Chicago, FLA and now in Anaheim. We need immediate results!
Doubtful. The Illitch family loves him
The Wings have one of the best protect pools in the league and are stocked with draft picks. Yzerman needed years to undo Holland's mess and contracts. Yes. Some of Yzerman's signings (compher) haven't panned out, but for the last three years, he's simply been plugging holes in the lineup until the young players are strong. The team has gradually improved year after year.
I don't know what some fans expect, for him to trade the farm at this deadline and go for the cup now? Yes, it would be fun to make the playoffs, but I'd much rather b patient knowing the future can be consistently bright, and that none of the contracts will be brutal, ie. 12 mil for a ppg player like Marner.
And if Yzerman is let, go (seriously doubt it), he'll end up in Toronto to clean house, and I'd be all for it.
Holland destroyed the team and admitted it would take 8-10 year for a complete rebuild. I don't think making the playoffs to get swept in 4 straight will do much for this team since more than half should not be on it next season. Yzerman will only leave or move on if he decides to resign. Chris won't fire him.
hOLlaND tHIs HOlland tHAt 🤪🤣
it's been 7 years, take some accountability 😂
Lidstrom would likely be the next in line, they brought him in 2022 to learn the ropes.
Draper has not proven himself to be that adept with talent evaluation on the UFA or prospect side.
What a hockey genius Friedman must surely be. It takes courage and brilliance to suggest Mr Happy “might lose his job if the Wings miss the Post Season for the SEVENTH YEAR IN A ROW”. He is like Miss Rose, Yawn Kipper and most of the Hog Town media…they are very bold ONLY when the results have been determined. They loved Mitchy-Boy (Rose’s call) but ride him hard once it was determined he was going, going, gone. He then became the REASON the Leafs failed.a month ago they had made their minds up if Mathews was a Leader. They are waiting for Pelley to make the call…the very guy who put the C on his chest. They all loved Treyliving and every move he made. They said Berubé was just what the Leafs needed. Now, with the writing on the wall, the manufactured hockey insider share with us that Mr. Happy MAY lose his Job as the chief cook and bottle washer in Wing World. Should they AGAIN miss the Playoffs it will mark 9 years in a row. Whomever the Leaf’s select to replace Berubé (when he is let go) and the next GM, Miss Rose, Yawn Kipper and the local yokels will be totally on-board.
I think he hasn't taken his rule as seriously as he did in Tampa he has had more opportunities to get better players and assists to help this team he has been to hesitant and I think the team deserves better Steve hasn't done enough I think his time is running up as GM unless he starts taking his job seriously like he did in Tampa
The Wings are missing top level center play & throughout the entire organization. Without it they are just drifting along without being relevant. Frustrating to see this go on year after year.
Draper? Hell no! He’s one of the main reasons this rebuild has stalled.
I don't blame the GM or the coach. I blame the players. Play hockey for 60 minutes every game and you have a better chance of winning more games.
Steve gets to fail upward?
