team really needed a game like this.
Your intro music is too loud and we cannot understand what you're saying
This is a huge statement game. Routing a division rival in a potential playoff matchup (at their home arena, mind you) says a lot about this team. We even had Malkin and Lizotte out of the lineup, and had Crosby playing hurt! Our depth will carry us very far into the post season, but I gotta be honest DK, there is no part of me that has faith in our goaltending. Skinner looks amazing at times, and is ideal as a veteran back up, but I believe in my heart that Sergei Murashov is the answer to a true Cup run. Do you think there's any likelihood that Murashov will get a look with Pittsburgh down the stretch? Even it's just for a game or two?
So, I’ll be the negative one after a really impressive performance.. but what is going on with this team and how bad they have been at face offs pretty much all season? I remember when that was a huge strength of this team.. still what an amazing game last night. Love the podcast
At the beginning of the game, DK, you seemed surprised, and not pleasantly so, about the lines. How much of a factor do you think this was in scoring 8? Do you think Dan Muse will keep them?
Well, that might just do it, we're not getting one of those top prospects. Wish I was more excited but I think making the playoffs is going to hurt this team more than help. They already did what they NEEDED to do this year, which was take a big step forward in the rebuild. This feels like a Steelers season, maybe they would've been better off not just making the playoffs. They won't win the cup.
OK I love them again
👻🐧👻
Still have goaltending issues
Great win, now see if they can back it up.
As a critic of Dubas and his job here. And someone who was unsure (but hopeful with Muse), I've been so impressed with this coaching staff and team. Kudos on them.
DK….if the Canadiens would have offered 3 first round picks (Dubas asking for 3 they offered 2) Sid could have been traded. This is from a primary source. So you hate on Canadian media a lot (and it does get fanatical) but this team was not built to do this well. You have half the team having career years, that is as much luck as it is good construction and great coaching. It is completely fair of fans, journalists, most of people around hockey, to think this team was going to not do well. Go Pens Go!! I'm glad the team could (looks more likely) they will get to the playoffs
Soderblom is a giant! Dude looks like hes a foot taller than everyone on the ice. Mayfield had no chance, he was getting ragdolled by just the hand Elmer had locked up on his jersey 😂
7 unanswered actually, but yeah
Soderblom is a cheat code with his size 😂😂 i also think Skinner needs to be the guy going forward from here
I actually thought the turning point in this game was the Barzal embellishment penalty. That could've been a huge momentum swing early. Finally the refs got it right and the rest of the game they put the whistle in the pocket every time the Isles took a dive. Finally the Pens got fair officiating and got the well deserved blowout victory. They might be built just right for "playoff hockey".
7 unanswered, it was 3-1, then it was 8-3.
THESE GUYS DO NOT QUIT!!!WHAT A MOMENTUM BUILDING GAME USING THE YOUNG GUYS IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS GREAT CONFIDENCE BOOSTER..ANOTHER CRITICAL GAME TUESDAY WILL BE A TEST FOR SURE! SODERBLOM APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER SOLID ACQUISITION NOT JUST FOR THE WAY HE STOOD UP TO MAYFIELD BUT FOR HIS PLAY IN GENERAL ON THE 4TH LINE..POSITIONALLY SOUND AND CONSISTENT TRUE TEAM BUILDING BYMR DUBAS AND STAFF
Mantha and BRAZEAU WOUL BE EXCELLENT SIGNINGS!!JUST SAYIN!!!
I don’t think we can still know wtf we’re gonna do this season but I’m happy to just stfu and watch. This season has been a breath of fresh air in Pittsburgh sports and I’m just happy to be along for the ride.
Elmer knows how to throw down! I was laughing so hard watching Mayfield get beat like he was his little brother
Can’t ignore the elephant in the room, Silovs was just awful
Hey DK, the past couple of daily shots, the intro music drowns you out
Thank you DK. What a huge turnaround. Goal after goal and two big points. So yea another win would be great. Great show DK
That shorthanded goal was huge! Islanders fell apart after that.
The Pens looked tired…then they turned it up a notch !! A must win !! Go Pens Go !!
Hey Dan, the fans of the Minnesota North Stars sure remember when the Pens scored 8 goals, it was Game 6 of the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals in Minnesota to secure their first cup. Im shocked you dont remember that fact.
Hey DK…….hockey is a funny game. That start of the game almost had me leaving the basement. In that first period Rust looked flat footed, guys were out of position, Mantha fought the puck, looked hurt, Silovs looked leaky, Letang and Girard looked like they were going to have a rough night, and the Islanders were flying!
Then the big man Soderbloom picks up the garbage after a very needed fourth line "WAKE THE HELL UP!" shift to the team, and from there the switch was flicked. I've been saying this all season, he's not getting the flashy minutes but Mantha has scored the biggest goal all seasons. Not sure how he went from having a rough first period to having the game he did after, but wow! As for Rakell, I really question if his injury nagged him up to a few weeks ago, cause this was the game we needed from him all season, he is going great now! I wonder the same about Brazeau, is he shaking off his injury bug and we are now seeing the guy who started the season? I do like seeing Chinakhov with Sid, I hope Muse lets that chemistry develope but he'll go back to Malkin. I love size in the line up, and the fact that Soderbloom can possess the puck, and drive the play, and fight, he has to be in there. No Koivenan, instead there's Hayes I like that!
Being down 3-1 to NY, I wasn't expecting to jump up and celebrate 7 times and see them win…….let's hope they lit the fire and smoke Detroit and Florida, and secure their position in the playoffs. When this lineup is full and going, and swarming, they can play and overwhelm anyone! Great game!
DK cross over question why do our teams have such a hard time playing youth???
Dejan, would you call up Murashov?
