The Detroit Red Wings dropped a massive game against Philadelphia—but somehow, they’re still alive in the playoff race.
With just 9 games remaining, Detroit sits 2 points out of the final wild card spot. The path forward? Brutal. Realistically, this team may need to win 6 of their final 9 games to have a shot.
No predictions. No scoreboard watching.
Just survive and advance—one game at a time.
Meanwhile, there’s major news beyond Detroit…
Trey Augustine and Michigan State have been eliminated from the postseason, and now the focus shifts to his future. A big decision looms: return to college or sign his entry-level deal with the Red Wings organization?
And in Grand Rapids…
The Griffins delivered one of their biggest wins of the season—storming back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Chicago 3-2 in overtime.
Axel Sandin-Pellikka is heating up fast, scoring the game-tying goal late in regulation and putting up 3 points in 3 games since arriving in the AHL.
🔥 Playoff race drama
🔥 Prospect decisions looming
🔥 Griffins getting hot at the perfect time
All that and more in today’s 7 Minute Wings.

Frustrating game last night. I agree that it's a battle for the 2nd wild card spot. We can't catch boston or montreal anymore. It will be tough but I still believe
Defensive lapses cost that game including soft goals getting by Gibson. Starting to play in the third period just doesn't get it. Lots of personnel work to be done this off season yzerman. But he never sees things they way we do does he?
Wings are cooked, FIRE SY, NUKE CORE!!!!!
I still have faith in this team. I think they’ll make it.
