If Morgan Frost could find a way to consistently play the way he did against the Panthers last week, he would be a force.
I've said it numerous times – Frost (26) and Farabee (25) should be the future veteran core of this team. Backlund and Coleman (likely both gone soon) should be tasked with doing everything they can to pass the torch to those two. Frost is 10 years younger than Backlund. He could play here through a full term contract and still be younger at the end (not saying that's the answer). Frost and Farabee can provide stability for the kids while still have good years in themselves left and they can still grow into responsible, veteran two-way leaders with talent.
The Gridin – Frist – Coronato line has been great, they've all helped elevate each other's play. Rechney and Potter are years away, and you have no idea how long Backlund sticks around either. If you could sign him to a 3-4 year deal, it would be perfect. The guy actually wins faceoffs, something this team has always struggled to do.
Keep him sign him long term
It will ultimately be what kind of extension Conny is willing to offer him this off season. He was still an RFA when he signed the recent extension so it made sense to sign the 2 year extension to take him to unrestricted free agency.
If they cant work out an extension during the off season or before next seasons deadline then he'll be traded. Its been virtually the same approach with every pending ufa that has value in a trade.
I assume Conny will try and get an extension signed, likely will depend on if Frosty likes it or if he thinks he can have a good contract year to cash in more on the next extension.
Take the shades off, just please take them off. We want to see your face!!
