Boomer and Rhett dive into a deep discussion about Zayne Parekh’s rookie season with the Calgary Flames, as it hasn’t gone quite how many expected and raises real questions about his development path. The guys debate whether he should have spent more time in the AHL or even gone the college route before signing, especially with NHL rules forcing Calgary’s hand, and share concerns about the physical toll he’s already taking at the NHL level after a few tough hits. While they agree the talent and upside are undeniable, they break down whether these are just normal growing pains or signs the Flames may have rushed things a bit too quickly.

I would of traded Parekh right after the world jr. For either a centre under 23 , low first or group him with a player to move up after lottery is settled for a higher draft pick
Nope. Not even a little concerned. If he plays next year in the AHL, he's gonna grow his game and be fine.
He looked really comfortable last night, even with the hit. Compared to the fall, he looks like he belongs at this level now.
Once he physically matures a bit more he should be fine.
He has a ways to go, but has lots of time.
Just wait till he gets more time with Gridin and We get some more young talent who can create open space in the offensive zone. Parekh will be a weapon let teh kid cook don't be TORONTO AND OVER ANALYZE A 20 YEAR OLD KID. Let him develop and the coaches and trainers will do there Jobs.
I don’t think he’ll ever be good
Wait until he's a man

The penalty at end of OT was atrocious. Linseman had just warned both benches about that. Not good! Kids pissed down his leg every game and often. Yeah he CAN handle puck and pass, right now struggling at that. Bigger stronger and meaner.
Watch guys on N Dak last night? All our guys looked good. All young as well. Also Hoskins on opponent looked good. Good job Connie. Big game Saturday.
There's no designated hitter in hockey.
75 point defenseman? That's elite. Would be happy if Parekh gets to 50 points
Parekh is Brendan Montour 2.0. He's not Makar like he was billed as
Everyone calm down. It’s pretty obvious Parekh’s vision is outstanding. He’s already adjusted plenty and now needs to better understand the physical game. He will. He just turned 20 years old.
Do flames fan like these guys?? All i hear from em is whine they have this whiny tone in their voices
I think it’s clear he needs to be in the AHL. He would’ve been there if not for a stupid CBA rule.
I see a kid that understands the game at a very high level, and when he's on the ice with players who can't read his plays, he looks like a fool. But he's already one of the best offensive players on the team. Right next to griddy. Give him better players, he will be one of the best players on the planet in a couple years.
How come you crumbled against the Ducks the last 4 minutes? Cant keep a lead? Oiler fan
Doesn't need to be in the NCAA or AHL. Nothing he will learn there. He has the next couple of off seasons to hit the gym with NHL level trainers and work with NHL level coaches on on- ice positioning
Cale Makar was 21 before he made his debut for Colorado at the end of the season.
That goal against LA should tell you all you need about what Zayne is gonna be with a little more muscle and evasion.
The constant shitting on Parekh by these guys is getting really old
What would really benefit Zayne is watching every shift TJ Brodie ever took for the Flames – the guy NEVER got tagged clean.
Guys lets not Toronto this guy outta Calgary before he gets his feet wet. The team has 9 points in their last 5 games and he hasn't been a liability.
As a newer Flames fan who went to many Saginaw games over Zayne's junior career I can confirm: the OHL is soft. I can also tell you that you guys have barely seen what Zayne can do. He's slowly starting to look like the kid that I watched in Saginaw as he gets more comfortable and builds confidence. He has to grow more (which I think he will) and work on his D more (which I think he will) but you will be seeing the point production and creativity soon. But I do agree that the NCAA would have been the better move to make this year in hindsight.
At the time he signed his ELC, the NCAA route wasnt available. Guarantee that if the NCAA thing happened a few months before, they would have sent him there
We got our own Bouchtard 💀
Playing defense well leads to offense because it allows you to get the puck out of your own zone faster. That's the part he doesn't seem to get. Plus, you will get more ice-time because the coach will trust you more. If he doesn't figure out the defensive side of the game, he'll never be a 75 point player in the NHL.
Part of me thinks he should have gone back to junior for another year because he clearly wasn't NHL ready, but the OHL kind of let him down as well because they let him get away with cheating his own position for so long, so I can see why the Flames wanted to take control at this point.
He will need a few years to figure it out (or not), so I am not writing him off this early, but I can certainly see why Huska would be apprehensive to give him big minutes now. It must drive the rest of the team nuts.
