If Arber had a decent right shot partner he’d be just fine at No. 6. Sorry, but for the good of the dressing room, which matters more to me than the fan base, it’s a reckless idea to get rid of him now. He wants to be there, which matters. His teammates LOVE him. That alone is enough for me to keep a guy with his attributes.
Brantford Bulldogs
Finally! The living in the past enforcer mentality gets called out. The game has changed and the talk about Xhekaj has to stop. So many fans talk about him like some sort of missing piece or saviour. The solution isn't on the roster quite yet, or else that person would be playing.
Reinbacher is going to be the key to putting everyone in their right chairs.
Guhle-Dobson
Hutson-Reinbacher
Matheson-Carrier
With Hutson-Reinbacher getting more offensive and less D zone starts. And the other four playing against other teams’ best lines. Eventually Reinbacher will take over those late game minutes from Carrier.
I don't understand how we still haven't given Reinbacher a look when we're clearly desperate to find a way to move Lane back to the left side
If the canadiens got done what they were looking to get done at the deadline we wouldn't be talking about this………….MARCO DON'T LEAVE US HANGING
This weekend is my last this season with reasonable start times as UK clocks go forward early Sunday morning. It's back to games finishing circa 02.40 GMT. By the time that the Habs post game show on TSN690 is over, it's generally around 04.00 GMT. If only all Saturday and Sunday games were matinee start times I'd be a very happy man. 😊😊❤❤😊😊
Colorado is the smallest and lightest team in the league and arguably not tough. They have been fine for quite a long while.
The Canadiens have to be more assertive in the defensive zone and to be more aggressive on the puck carrier. Thank you, Marco!!! I've been saying this for the past two years. The Habs stand around in their own end, leaning on their sticks like arthritic octogenarians, and refuse to pressure the puck. Far too passive. That's why they get hemmed in for long stretches, which does not, typically, work out well. And you're 100% right about the importance of the lob. The Canadiens used the lob to great effect in winning the 1986 Stanley Cup.
I hate when Marco says "when they reach their competitive window"…..they are one of the top teams in the league right now, especially a top team in the east…..the window is open now! Can we get better down the road, of course….but they are in thier competitive window already
Thing is Marty told the media he would not talk about lineup so media should take a clue and find themselve better questions.
Im 100% with MSL on this one. And media question in general have been dumb questions for years anyway
Protz just signed his contract. I guess Marco was off there
I really think they should find room for Xhekaj somewhere. He's been a victim of the R/L D imbalance. I suppose it's easier to find an Right shot D or Forward that can do Xhekaj's job . But I think they'll regret it if he goes elsewhere. I think he's got Sourray potential.
Here's what I want to see talked about — Why is Dobson standing there watching while Hutson protects the goalie?
What about Bryce Pickford?
NOTE: Owen Protz signed his ELC shortly after this recording.
There was word that a contract was being discussed, but it wasn unclear whether the Canadiens would announce it right away.
Starr & D'Amico want to congratulate Owen on a well deserved contract (which begins effective next season).
We'll have a video on this shortly.
I hope that Beck, Reinbacher, and Engstrom are up with the team next year.
Struble's last 2 games have been great.
Dang. Have sign that seasoned savvy of an NCAA VET in Hughes. Let’s go.
Yes, yes, yes, for periods (almost a full period) the Habs can appear 'under siege', with that said, watch all the top teams and this happens. Yes, we need to break up the d-zone time more but its not whole games. Sure Columbus had their chances & missed but so did the Habs, 9 times out of 10 Caulfield has at least 1 if not 2 goals given the chances he had. Seriously, how often do we see Caulfield misfire a puck high & wide from the slot. So its nice to see Dobes stand up but I'd make the observation that the important difference isn't the 'big saves' he made the last 2 games, its NOT giving up the weak ones. Its the weak ones a good team can't afford and its giving up the weak ones that differentiate bottom tier goalies from top tier. Dobe was giving up at least 1 weak one a game, he hasn't done that the last 2 games.
im a listener who listens not live so just checking in now at 2 pm pst & was scrolling down my vid offers & just saw this headline >> owen protz signs ~ from a live stream on recrutes habcast ~
Dobes win 24 match Price total rookie season 2007/08 ☝️😏
Re: Ghule, spot on Marco, this is the Guhle we've been expecting to see since his latest return. I think its fair to say he's BAAACCCK. That alone is absolutely huge. Sure, he's not as big as Xhekaj but he's faster, far more skilled, hits like a freight train, can absorb big hits and though we haven't need to see it, I'm betting he can hold his own in a fight.
Protz just ink enter level 3 year more D coming in
Hage not playing today injuries 😮
Hage is injured not playing now.
We need Arber
In the last 10 we've gone 7-3. The 3 losses were those stupid home games against SJS + Anaheim and the Matheson stupid play against Detroit (note, Matheson is very valuable but we're going to have to live with him doing that kind of thing once every handful of games). We have 11 games left, 7 on the road, 4 at home. 7 against teams we should 'expect' to beat, 4 against teams that we can say should be 'even up' (1xCar, 2xTBL, 1xColumbus). If we can play like we have for 8 of the last 10, absent a Matheson stupid play I think we have a very good (>60%) chance of 7 wins, so 104 pts, and that's got to get us 3rd in the Atlantic at least. Given 3 of the 4 'tough games' are on the road we have to realistically believe <50% chance of wins. With that said, if we can just clean up our game a tad more, I think we have a >50% chance of taking 2nd. Especially if you look at TBL's schedule, its significantly tougher than ours for the last 11 (2xMTL, 2xOTT, 2xBos, 1xBuf + 4 'easy' ones) though they do have 7 at home, 4 on the rd. Just saying that 2 weeks ago we were crying in our beers over their western road trip followed by up & down at home. We can't say we're quite at 'playoff level' hockey, but man we're close and that's very exciting to see. Its hard not to wear Habs colored glasses, but if we can play full 60 minute games instead of 45/50 minute games as we do too often, with the grit we've shown lately AND keep getting at least .910 SV% goaltending I think we can play and win against any team in the playoffs. GO HABS GO!
Dobe will end with with 30 to 31 wins, 2.65 to 2.75 GAA and .910 SV%…he should be RoY, book it! Goalie is FAR harder than defense, Shaefer won't make the playoffs and shouldn't take home this award. Just give it to Dobe now. 🙂
Ken Dryden did that many timex, hold the team in a game that starts slowly for the team, and also hold the fort at the end with a small lead.
Carey Price too.
Looks like the team is getting closer and closer to the pieces falling in place. Obviously not a finished product but looking good.
