Simmons was always a waste of head space. I've never liked his articles and almost always disagree with him. Kessel was a lot of fun to watch in Toronto. On behalf of Leaf fans in Toronto, I'm sorry Phil that you had to put up with our horrible sports media and their useless questions.
he still hasn't retired btw and currently sits 8 points away from 1000
“Looked tired before the puck dropped” ha! I’ve always thought Phil was the man. Another banger vid s&s
Pens fans loooooooove Phil the thrill, myself included
Penguins & Leafs aren’t in the same division. You said Division rivals twice… Leafs are in the Atlantic division, Pens in the Metro. Not Rivals.
Phil tha thrill – built like a true midwestern beer leaguer
Toronto media and fans run every good player out . Tired of it .
cancer doesnt require surgery or poisonous chemicals to cure. Acting as if flooding your body with poison and cutting off a nutsack is a "cure" proves youre an idiot
Saw this pop up a few hours ago, decided to wait so I could enjoy it with a few hot dogs.
This is the best 16 mins of my day
How about a video on Pat Maroon? He's a legend here in Saint Louis. His is a story somewhat similar to Kessel's. Thanks again for all of the great content!
ERM jokic stopped drinking coke…. But yeah I agree otherwise
Quick asterisk the leafs and penguins are definitely not in the same division nor rivals
Bro, I like your videos but we gotta talk about these inaccuracies. First you call Cooke a tough guy that would fight anyone to keep his job…. now you refer to The Leafs as Pittsburghs divisional rival, when they are not nor have they been in the same division since 1995. This is sloppy dude.
Physical form isn't everything. In football, there were legendary forwards such as Rooney and R7 that were on the heavier side, yet amazing skills.
Need to stop having AI write your scripts. That final sentence is pure AI. "Thats not X, its Y" statment. Do your own research. Its making you sloppy. Not the first video you made with inaccuracies. Pitt and Toronto are not divisional rivals, they arent even in the same division, then or now. I am not saying this to be cruel. You can be better than that.
Phil Kessel was what you call Fatletic.
Kessel was the Hunter Pence of the NHL
Toronto chases their talent out of the door. Hockey isnt always about points… its a two way game and leafs fans dont understand that. Florida will keep winning and same with boston. The future is boston and florida.
Funniest thing is the thumbnail showing Phil in a Leafs jersey & the wording "He won 3 cups" NOT in that jersey he didn't.
I met Phil Kessel once in downtown Toronto at the Pickle Barrel near Yonge and Dundas. We were waiting in line to get seated and he was in front of us with his group. Ended up saying hello and talking to him for a bit about hockey and food while we waited to get seated. I liked the guy beforehand since he was such an anomaly of a hockey player but meeting him firsthand sealed it for me and I started rooting for him even though I'm not a Toronto fan at all.
Ovi drinks all the time and is one of the greats. Some players dont need to live like everyone else
The star winger most strongly reinforced the impression that Toronto is graveyard for hockey.
Not only first-round picked elite Kadori, but also UFA players Bozak and R7 194th overall pick Gunnersson, got career highs escape the graveyard of hockey.
True hero…
Phil Kissel is exactly the type of player my late old man would refer to as a bum. When people say this shit, consider the source. Used to always bitch about me not excelling @ sports—being fairly decent—yet he never got his ass off the couch to work with me.
Funny the man Toronto need they trade lol could had him with Matthews and they played his style after
Just subbed. This is a great breakdown of Kessel. As a Pens fan I'm glad we had him for the two cup wins. GO Pens 🐧
Such a boss. Loved him on the Pens. HBK line was a classic
send matthews to edmnton for his "phil kessel phase'" of his career
Kessel is exactly what we like to see as fans.
Man loved the game. He was a 1970s hockey guy in the modern era: he enjoyed life and played on his own terms. And he's got three rings to show for it.
Toronto did him wrong. Those 2010-2015 Toronto teams were truly atrocious, both in players and coaching.
He LLM'd at the end there. That's getting cringe it is so common these days. "It's not blah, it's blah!"
The horse is dead, please stop kicking.
Pittsburgh and Toronto, division rivals…. yeah ok
Heck, Gretzky never trained intensively. No one ever complained about his output.
Hockey media in Canada can be brutal and unforgiving, especially in places like Montreal and Toronto. (Philadelphia, New York and Boston NHL media coverage can also be intense, too.)
Bring back JOFA helmets and sticks! Same with Victoriaville wood sticks! 😊👍
Lazy writing on Simmons' part.
I used to read his Hockey News articles for years, and I always enjoyed his insights.
But it seems he's turned jaded and cynical these days.
After covering the Leafs for so long, I get it. 😮😮😮
Google his plus minus… then compare it to other elite players. It was terrible and if he was on the ice the other team was far more likely to score than he was.
Phil Kessel has only been a chill, skilled player. Don't understand the hate.
Steve Simmons is a bum and cannot be trusted. He's easily one of the worst sports columnists in the city
Not in a leafs jersey he didn’t. Nice try lol.
The hot dog thing was trying a fat shame a great player. All that matters is he proved them all wrong.
Kessel was one of the best snipers Toronto ever had. Don't forget, he also came back from having cancer at a young age.
Leafs sniper , organization treated him like shit
This video leaves out the fact that despite the cup wins Pittsburg wanted to get rid of him. He was useful to score playoff goals but was considered a lazy player overall.
Toronto doesn’t need to win to fill the seats all the idiots who live there will go time and time again and pay stupid money to watch it same as the jays and the argos
Toronto is not an NHL Team its a pension fund investment. "Wheels" as my wife and I called him never had a chance in Toronto because he never had the caliber of players on his line to leverage his speed. Everyone was to slow on his line so they focused on Kessel which neutered his ability. We were ecstatic when he was traded to Pittsburgh, even more so when he got them back to back trophies vindicating how sh&tty Toronto Inc (MLSE) is. They will never win a cup period, but they will always be the most profitable team in the league.
KESSEL INTENSIFIES
Toronto doing Toronto things.
