A flukey goal off the skate of Calum Ritchie would turn out to be the game-winner as the New York Islanders beat the Dallas Stars 2-1 on Thursday night at UBS Arena. Bo Horvat opened the scoring in the first period and then Ritchie was credited with the second Islanders goal when a Matthew Schaefer point shot deflected off the unsuspecting skate of Ritchie before dribbling into the net. Matt Duchene scored a 6-on-5 extra attacker goal to put Dallas on the board, but they could not find the equalizer. Ilya Sorokin stopped 26 of 27 shots to record his 27th win of the year, while Jake Oettinger finished with 23 saves on 25 shots.
