JD Young breaks down the Sharks’ inability to finish—despite creating chances—and spotlights the brutal impact of injuries to key wingers like Tyler Toffoli and Igor Chernyshov.

The analysis zeroes in on the promising Misa-Eklund-Sherwood line, defensive adjustments, and Ryan Warsofsky’s options as the roster thins. 1. Maybe other players need to take on more game time responsibility. Quit relying on macklin especially during power play.

  2. I feel like the first line just got shut down by the Flyers first line . And unfortunately, putting Kurashev on that line just dragged them down further. Even though the second line did great they still didn’t score. Hoping adding Cherny to the mix will help. Think Warso needs to bring in Regenda too

  3. If Celebrini takes a clean hit and is not hurt.

Your choice is… take a dumb penalty, have a chance to lose because of it.
And send the message that every last 3rd / 4th line in the entire league should also hit him.
Because it gives their team the win.

    Or let the clean go.

  4. I blame coaching, no player has shown and significant improvement this year, and some (Ecklund, Taffoli) have gone the other direction.

  5. I feel like the answer right now is straightforward. Stop fucking with the 1st line in clutch games. Our main should be Graf-Mack-Smitty, Ekky-Misa-Sherwood, if you want to mix, mix Kurashev, Wenny, Gaudette, Goodrow, Regenda Ostapchuk and call up Musty and/or Bystedt to add to the mix. Call up cags for gods sake. And please, when Toff comes back, lets consider trying him with Wenny first instead of immediately fucking with the Ekky-Misa-Sherwood mix as long as they maintain this level or the level of other lines isn't suffering. Oh and make a prayer circle for Asky, Cherny, Toff, Vinny and Ty while we're at it.

  6. It's not an offensive problem. it's a defense problem. A Good defense makes a great offense. And in return creates a Stanley cup team. Every team that wins the cup has a good defense. Pay attention to top organizations and they always focus on defense and offense is secondary. San Jose over the years is just the opposite. Until they change their mindset the organization will continue to have inconsistencies.

  7. Shark bitten… imagine the leagues worst PP putting up 2 goals on you, in your barn? Warso is trying to pull a Jon Cooper in playing the top 2 lines all game. Sharks were good in November, because they were more balanced. <3 Mar, but timing is bad.. I don't like how you have to immediately get at the guy. Do like Ovi, where he'll destroy a guy later in a game to avenge for being targeted. I think Celly is a brick shithouse body-type… and I think he'll be able to lay some massive hits (if he wants) to stand up for himself in the future.

  8. OFFENCE

    1) Musty – Celebrini – Smith

    2) Eklund – Misa – Chernyshov

    3) Toffoli – Bystedt – Graf

    4) Regenda – Wennberg – Sherwood

    DEFENCE

    1) Dickinson – Desharnais

    2) Ferraro – Mukhamadullin

    3) Cagnoni – Orlov

  9. I'm still firmly in the "give Regenda a chance" camp. Ever since his perfom for Slovakia I have thought that Regenda would be nice on that Celebrini/Smith pairing. He likes to go net front and is a big body that isn't afraid to hit people. It's exactly the kind of grit that I think the Celebrini Smith pairing is short of.

  10. Regenda, 9 goals in 21 games. That's a 35 goal pace. Averaging under 14 minutes a night!! He scores goals at a higher pace (per ice minute) than Macklin.

And he's +2 (best on team is +3). He's not getting caved in on defense, providing goals on offense.

Why is he being kept out of the line-up?

  11. My main issue with the Ferrari instigator is that the refs didn’t call it on Philly when the situation was reversed at the end of the 2nd pd.
