    I want the Leafs to have a top 5 pick but the simple reality is that Treliving put the team in this position: the only way Toronto guarantees they keep a top 5 pick is to finish 3rd last. I am sorry tank nation but that is an absurd level of tanking to guarantee the pick. This talk they are blowing the tank is simply ridiculous. You want the team to lose every single game? Because that’s pretty much what Toronto had to do to secure a reasonable shot at keeping their pick. It was never a realistic scenario. Yes it is extremely annoying but my contention is that Treliving needs to be fired for the situation they are in. Absolutely absurd trade conditions and trades handing away 1st round picks years on end. Fire Treliving if they don’t get a top 5 pick. He has to wear this result with his job. Whining about the team blowing the tank is simply ridiculous, I am sorry. Unless Toronto finished bottom 3 no guarantee of keeping their pick. That meant losing nearly every game. Treliving near assured Boston was getting this pick when he made it top 5 protected it was basically a “Toronto finishing bottom 3” insurance for Boston. That’s the bottom line based on how the lottery works. This idea Toronto was going to lose their way to a pick was always wishful thinking. If we had top 10 protected it’s a different story. Pure lunacy to make this top 5 condition when you did not have Marner signed. They were a Matthews injury+ away from this outcome.

    I'll tell you the worst thing that happened to this team was in the last 10 years…. bringing in John tavares!!!!! He's the reason the culture is like it is ….they brought in the wrong guy ….He hasn't won anything for a reason he didn't win anything in Long Island and he didn't get past the first ** round for years here…. He's the most boring player to watch .. not Dynamic offensively And Not gritty doesn't hit!!!

    Everyone has it wrong. We should finish as high as possible, maybe give away the 12th to 15th pick and next year we have top 10 protected and be done with it. If they tank this year and get the top 5 pick, next year's and the one after will not be protected. Those leafs teams will finish lower than the current one, we may be giving up a top 5 in successive years.

    If they can get something good for either Woll or Stolarz this off season I'd do it. But I would not give them away just because Hildy won't clear waivers next year because Actiomov will.

    We're the richest team in the league. No one is handing us anything. We don't have any picks but we have Auston and Willy and a goalie to trade. We have options. Being upset about the tank is ridiculous. That should have happened before the Olympics. It didn't. Move forward.

    The management from all the years before is definitely to blame and Brad needs to own some of it. 4 core players for the last 9 years not dropping their gloves and Cowan does. That's pretty telling.

    The Leafs cannot trade any goalie because both starters are not reliable and inconsistent. We need three with these guys. If they sneeze they are out. They are both like babies.

    When the team is bad, everything goes wrong from top to bottom, so expect the worst. Expect the worst would be the best case scenario, 6th pick to Boston this year, and 11th to Philly in 2027
