   The Ducks have been AWESOME this season… except for one McTavish sized elephant in the room. What do YOU guys think will happen with McTavish long term? Is this just a fluke down season? Or could we see a trade in the future? #GravGang

   You hit it on the head, new system and he came in late. His defensive game has not improved, and a lot of it comes down to his effort. He has shown up more in the 2 games since the scratches though

   But Verbeek chose between him and Zegras because there wasn’t enough room for both. We need him to be better but we aren’t trading him unless he’s the centerpiece for a 2C upgrade

   He needs to get it together, cause McQueen is on the horizon. Trade him for a good skating RHD. A move to the wing and he could be the second coming of Scott Hartnell which isn’t terrible but I think he has a bit more upside.

   I think they will give him another half season – this is a deal for mid next season if there is anything there

   They will have him in training camp and a few more months of play to see if he fits

   Honestly the rise of Sennecke and breakout of Cutter Gauthier. Ducks is not desperate for Mason McTavish to hit

   A second line winger or center is what he is long term is not a bad thing

   Also, with the rising cap, cap is just an arbitrary number

   As an avid Ducks fan that watches every Ducks game religiously, I have to say one of the problems the Ducks players face in finding consistency is the constand juggling of lines. There's so much talent on the team that the lines are constantly juggled. I think McTavish has been one of the causalties in a sense that it's hard to be consistent when you always have different linemates. Let's be real. It's hard to develope chemistry with a half dozen guys, right? I just think everyone needs to relax, Mason is an awesome player, he's young, the Ducks would be stupid to trade him. I don't even like hearing this talk. How much longer is Killorn going to be around, or Kreider,? Strome was already shipped out, and Ryan Poehling has been playing well, but if you have Cutter Gauthier on the 3rd line as he has been for the past week or so, and McTavish on the 4th…it kind of tells you that there is some talent on this team. Cutter has 36 goals and is on the 3rd line? The reality is the Ducks are in first place int he Pacific, their scoring is much more balanced this year and they are headed to the playoffs it appears. Isn't that the goal of the team? So if some guys have reduced production, so what? Add to that every guy goes through slumps. Remember Cutter last year, they guy couldn't buy a goal in the first half of the season, now 36 this year. Mason is young, let the guy play and kill these rumors. He'll snap out of it.

   This is so hyperbolic I can see him getting traded anytime soon. Dude leads the ducks in faceoff % hes just been lacking the effort this season but if you watched the game after the scratched hes been hitting more and has got a point and almost 2 points. He needs to work on foot speed this offseason for sure but just wait til he is a dawg second center next year with more time in the system.

   At the beginning of the season, Verbeek thought McTavish was worth Slafzilla's value, and now Newhook has more value than McTavish.

    The Ducks also have a logjam of high end young LD's. More than likely either Mintyukov or Zellweger will be traded this offseason. Both are top four players and with LaCombe being their number one D, there just isn't enough room. One will have to go. The return for wither should be very good as well.

    How did we get here in 2026 that someone gets scratched and its like, oh he's being traded. He's fine, he's another player who's signed a contract late into training camp (Swayman last year) who's had an off year. You don't give up on a 22 year old potential 2nd line center.

    Definitely not worth trading, he’s had a rough season, but those OT shootouts have been an absolute joy to watch. He needs more time, but if he lags the team, it might be worth a trade.

    consider that before the season nobody expected Sennecke to become a full time NHL player yet. so add Beckette, and Grandlund to the mix leaves little room for anyone. I'm pissed they have Cutter, their leading goal scorer playing on the 3rd line just because Terry came back into the lineup. So it is ridiculous the amount of potential thee Ducks' forward group has.

    McTavish came out of the draft with the prospect of being the Duck's Getzlaf replacement as soon as he grew up and got settled in the league. He's having a bad year and he's not doing himself any favors by not playing more physical to make up for his lack of scoring. The Leafs are coming to town next week and they've got a target on Radko Gudas. If McTavish drops his gloves and shows he's a true leader who isn't going to let visitors come into his house and push people around, his mediocre season will be forgotten.

    He would be insulated by Scheifele and Lowry it be a good fit.

    McTavish has been unreliable every season. He’s either hot or very cold. He was garbage last year until Cronin woke him up by calling him a 3rd liner.

    Some players excel in certain playing schemes. Some don’t. Case in point look at what happened to PLD. Went to LA and just laid an egg. Was traded to the Caps and he’s been playing better there. So with MacT, the system that Coach Q has implemented, this might not be the best system for his talents. I could definitely see him being traded to a team that may need his certain set of skills.
