First. Forever and always
They have to play BUFFALO… or Carolina
Free agency and trade deadline deals is not a valid strategy to build a team today. For some reason players are not willing to bet on themselves and are taking term with their current teams.
Crazy that the red wings made the playoffs 25 years straight
We saw from the trade deadline and the lack of any real movement that it’s a sellers market. That’s not to mention no move clauses which makes competition even harder when you’re a middling team. I actually like the first round picks Yzerman took – some haven’t yet worked out but these are mostly good if not very good. Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson, Cossa, Kasper. Danielson and MBN. There’s not much not to like there. Where they seem to be stuck or have been stuck is on the depth pieces and trades. We don’t really want to empty the cupboard on trades and players only want to sign for “contenders” – so here we are, stuck in the middle. I don’t actually fully blame Yzerman for everything. We’re kind of a victim of circumstance, especially when you consider how inexplicable the East has been this year.
Pavel Datsyuk who never hit 100 points, was 40% in shoutouts and isn't even on the top 200 best season +/- list has gotta be the most overrated player in the history of the game.
Couldn't of happened to a better team..
What makes Kyle Davidson at least a decent GM is his commitment to getting the picks Chicago needed to rebuild. He tore everything down, even while catching tons of hate for it from fans. By next season Chicago should be doing decent again, and if they're even decent next year I'd even say Davidson goes from a decent to great GM. A rebuild involves "building", you can't do that being middle of the pack, gotta be all or nothing to get good picks
They definitely outplayed boston the other night. That was such a brutal loss. If Raymond was playing like last year and finishing. Detroit would be 3rd in the division. They don't have enough depth overall to get them over the hump. You can't be relying on Kane at his age. Gibson has been incredible and glad he found his place in Detroit. The wings need a hard working dog player. They need a Josh Doan, Zach Benson, or Alex tuch from Buffalo. Players who win puck battles and go into the corners with the mindset of I'm gonna come out on top and create a scoring chance. Where is a Thomas Holmstrom? A player who could just out battle the opponent or Brendan Shanahan? Thats the big key missing piece. Thats why Buffalo is so successful now.
After the games on the 21st of March, I calculated every team's end-of-season points tally based on 'form projection'.
What I mean by this is that I look at the number of games remaining for each team, and then I look at the number of points they have picked up in their previous number of games (the same number of games as the one for remaining games), and then finally add the same number of points for the remainder of the season onto their current points total.
Example: If team A has 70 points and they have 12 games remaining, but in their previous 12 games, they picked up 20 points, so they would finish on 90 points if they pick up the same number of points for their final 12 games like they did for their previous 12.
On that day, I added up for the Detroit Red Wings, and they would finish on 96 points, but it would put them 11th in the conference.
Form can change for some teams.
This is just for fun.
18, 21, 37, and 88 are just a few problems on the roster
Ehh I kinda want them to miss the playoffs bc I want yzerman gone .
Hes stubborn and clings on to his bust of draft picks and isn’t aggressive in free agency.
Hopefully this will be the last straw and illitch will have to act
