How fortunate are Oilers to be in Pacific Division?

Are the Oilers just fortunate to be residing in the worst division in hockey this season? Who deserves most of the blame for the Oilers struggles? What stands out amongst Alex Ovechkin’s accomplishments? Is this the last season of Ovechkin’s NHL career? TSN Hockey analyst Cameron Gaunce joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

  1. What type of stupid question is that? Fortunately they are lucky that they have Mcdavid. Otherwise it's the early 2010 Oilers again. The Oilers have never been a legit Cup contender's. They have a coach who changes lines every game. Bowman trading Skinner because he listened more to the fans then understanding that they need great goaltending because their defense is absolute ass.

  2. So this guy admits the wild card structure is dumb and every year theirs a different team and/or division at a disadvantage they can't really control so much. Need the 1-8 seeding back.

  3. Maybe, just maybe the Pacific actually has something called parity, and all the teams in that division are so close to each other, that they beat and wear down each other, rather than the Atlantic having one team that dominates. Mark my words, the Pacific will be represented in the Stanley Cups Finals, long after the Avalanche have been golfing for over a month.

  4. Oilers have had an easy path to the WCF being in the pacific. Only now is the pacific catching up in terms of quality of teams.

  5. McDavid's comment seems to have fired up the Pacific, both the Ducks and the Knights won last night. The Oilers better put their pillow away and WAKE UP, because the race is on!
