  1. Man, I’m so glad y’all are doing this pod. I’ve got so much respect for what Jake and that ’03 team did for this franchise I’ve loved since day one. I was born in ’89 and grew up in North Carolina, and 6yo me was hyped when we got a team, but those first few years were rough. Being a Panthers fan back then was brutal, especially after Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl and every bandwagon fan in a Sapp jersey or a champ hat was talking trash.

That ’03 squad changed everything. Offensively and defensively, they were all dawgs. We went from being the laughing stock to being the underdogs no one could afford to underestimate.

And it honestly drives me crazy when younger fans put Cam on their Panthers Mount Rushmore, and bring up his MVP 2015 year, when Jake is the one who deserves that spot IMO. Kuechly was the brains, Peppers was the raw power, Smitty was the passion and fire, and Jake was the heart of this franchise after ’03. That's the real Mount Rushmore. I'll take an underdog with a heart, over an MVP any day.

I’m saying all this because I really want Jake to know that some of us haven’t forgotten what he did for this team. Ring or not, the man deserves Hall of Fame consideration.
