Penguins postgame: Overcoming themselves, new shootout moves, & more goalie interference

  1. Dan, that is so disappointing to hear you say the fact the contact was incidental should allow it be considered a goal. The rule states, "if the player pushes the defenseman into the goalie, disallow it" it does not indicate that it has to be intentional vs incidental contact. the point is, the defender did not take an action such that it was his fault for Silovs being knocked over. He was knocked into Silovs by the opposing player. Very simple. If incidental contact is allowable for this, the rule needs to indicate that.

And logically, it makes no sense that the contact has to be incidental or intentional. the point is, the goalie is in his crease, and the other team causes someone to crash into him such that he can't do his job, that should never be allowed. The league is basing goalie interference on him not being able to do his job, vs the contact having to result in penalties. All of the divers are simply going to start practicing their "incidental pushes" to defenders to get goals next…

  2. Run other players into the other opponents goalies. Just like they did in the 80's and 90's. Crash the net with intent to interfere.

  3. Irony is we win shootout against maybe best goalie in league and lost to many bottom feeders……totally unreal. Had we lost I figured we would invite Hailey Hunter to shoot next time.

  4. The team should definitely coalesce around Karlsson. He plays his best when he’s in charge. He’s still totally able to take over games. Reminds me of when he played with the senators. Total beast

  5. What a pleasure it is to watch EK65, Muse should buy a lotto ticket the day he wins a goalie interference challenge.. if he ever wins one

  6. The goalie interference was brutal cause Karlsson was nowhere near Silovs and if Barron didn't make contact with EK there would've been zero contact. And karlsson would've just skated by. But i agree with you Dan its certainly looks like the league is against the pens on this even if they aren't

  7. Thanks Dan! Wild one again, but I'll take the 'W'. Love your analysis and insight. When the game got to the SO, I couldn't listen, Went out on my porch to watch airplanes in the sky. When I came back in and heard that they won the SO, I was happily surprised. Geez, ya just never know. . . In any event, have a great evening, and we'll do it again tomorrow!! Cheers! 😉😉🏒🏒🐧🐧

  8. I’m biased but I guarantee if that was reversed they overturn the goal and take one away from the Pens

  9. When it comes to Kris, I've posted this before, there's no divinitative answer for helping Kris 😢

  10. (I know you're not in charge of any of this) This was the most goaltender interference that ever interfered on a goaltender. Barron used his right arm to very deliberately shove if not outright throw Karlsson into Silovs. Easily seen on a single replay. The refs will continue to absolutely suck though, intentional or not, they call the most bizarre crap against the Penguins and have done so all season. It's drives me nuts.

  11. The rulebook is useless if Toronto doesn’t abide by it. I want the rules enforced all around. Not some roller derby interpretation of the rules. If there was ever a clear case of interference, this was it. At this point it’s absolutely useless to ever challenge it again.

  12. Think of the amount of times this team wouldve folded and fell behind just a year ago. It was like pulling teeth trying to get goals. They now have 11 players in double digits and mark my words… all the ways they are keeping themselves in games. All the different ways they have learned to win. Grit. Effort. It will put them in a better position come playoff time. Its the exact same reason certain teams that make regular season look easy, flatline come postseason. This team is really good and I'm so happy to be able to watch it.

  13. Come on Dan I think Silovs deserved at least a C+ for that game. Especially after getting bowled over.

  14. According to the rule “intent” is completely irrelevant.
And the commissioner said they were going to go by the letter of the law according to Dubas and Muse.

So I have to respectfully disagree with your analysis because compare the goal today to the goal that they called back against Malkin where he just ever so slightly grazed the goaltenders glove and they called it back real quick…so it’s not an issue of the NHL not wanting to take away goals.

At this point it does seem like a targeted thing, which I never would have said in the past.

  15. Thanks, Dan, looking for next W-Game analylisys on Sunday 🎉❤ PS modern rules on goalie interference looks soooooo strange…😮

  16. All against Us ? No Problem – this Team will solve it 💪⚫️🟡🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧

  17. This Boys are amazing ! In this Game was Karlsson genius, in an other Game- Chinakiv, Malkin, Mantha, Rust, Crosby, Rakell I can write more Names and Names…

  18. The Players are most in good Condition, Trainer must concentrate now on Goalies and Defence, Silovs and Skinner must be focused and optimised….

  19. Ok, i dont know that inteference Rule til now, but we don need their help 😎Chinakov Karlsson, Rust, Crosby & Rakell overcome Hellybuck 💪🟡⚫️
