Radko Gudas Suspended After Hit Injures Auston Matthews | NHL Controversy Explained
A violent moment on the ice has now turned into one of the biggest disciplinary stories in the NHL. One collision changed the direction of a season and sparked intense debate across the league. Anaheim Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas delivered a knee-on-knee hit that injured Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews during a game between the two teams.
The incident occurred during the second period as Matthews moved toward the puck near the net. Gudas stepped in to defend the play and their knees collided directly. Matthews immediately went down on the ice and required medical attention before leaving the game.

When Austen Matthews recovers from his knee surgery and once again begins playing for the LEAFS, then and only then does Gudas begin his 5 game suspension. No hockey time for Gudas until Mathews can play again. Seems fair to me.
Gudas should be kicked out of the NHL. HE'S done this before.

Change the CBA to allow for more than 5 games resulting from the phone call interview or get Gudas' dirtbag a** in for a hearing in person. This POS has a history and maybe he should be suspended for the length of time that Matthews will be out because of this injury. I'm not a Matthews fan but this was as deliberate and dirty as they come. Seriously. Suspend his a** without pay for as long as Matthews is out.
Wasn’t Gudas the guy who sat on Sidney Crosby , over-flexing his knee and putting Crosby out of the game and putting him out of action for two months?

Why is Gudas still allowed to play in the NHL? He's the guy who whacked an opponent in the head when he was down on the ice? He got 10 games for that. His first game back from that suspension he head hunted another guy and GOT AWAY WITH IT!!!
There was a 2 week stretch in 2016 when he was ejected from a game THREE TIMES!!
This suspension is one that is usually reserved for first time offenders!!
He was so bad that even coaches and GMs from his OWN TEAM have had to pull him aside to address his illegal injury attempts.

This is easy. The dirty hit person should be out as long as the other person is out with no pay
So Radko takes out Crosby, then now… but a couple weeks later, Radko takes out Matthews… The fuck? How is this guy still in the league?
If you aren't able to hit a guy you don't throw your knee to catch them. Radko Goonis is a dirty player and should be kicked out of the league. Someone with his skill or lack thereof should feel lucky to have a job in the NHL and being a head hunter and out to injure opposing players is unacceptable.

This type of hit has been going on for many seasons and now they’re gonna bring this point up as though it was the first time. The NHL has to reevaluate every hit that can ruin a players career and set the record straight by making these career ending hits a more severe punishment. Because you cannot stop a player from making moves on you doesn’t give you the right to hurt that player.
I haven't seen a more blatantly obvious play with the intent to injure. It reminds me of the hit on red wings Kris Draper. When watching the the replay you could see Goon Ass leading all the way with his knee. If it was left up to me he would be gone for the rest of the season and he would be told if he does something this blatant again he would be kicked out of the league.

You wanna take out the dangerous hits? The person that hits him and takes a person out should be out the same time. At other persons got injuries to fatigue six weeks for him to come back to play.Oki, that guy should be out the same time.The players would really think long and hard before they do a dirty yet

Gudas should also have to pay a punitive fine. If the NHL really wants to end fighting, hit the offenders where it hurts, their wallets.
